Buy a router, a wireless router like the Dlink di-714P+ has a built-in 4 ports switch if you don't have a wireless adapter yet. The easiest way would be using a wireless router with wireless adapters (PCI, USB or PCMCIA cards).

Option 2 would be to have only one rig connected to the Intarweb but still using it as a file server feeding the second one.

I guess I can get a second network card for the main system and using a crossover to connect to the second right?

step 1: install a second nic card.
Step 2: install a good software firewall
step 3: buy a 8 port switch and hook up more computer to it and setup file sharing

Sorry, but after hearing my Cisco teacher say NIC Card every day for a year it just really bugs me. I just wanted to smack him every time he said it.
