2.8c on an abit 845BG7, will it work???

I'm about to start an upgrade project and wanted to start at the processor and work back to the video card. my 1.8a is tired along with my gfti4400. but I want to wait for the new round of v-cards to hit the shelf later next month. But back to the matter at hand, will the processor work in my current board? I understand that I may have to underclock for a while till I get the new mobo, but I could really use the speed boost. If not any upgrade path suggestions?

If by chance it works, the CPU will only operate @ 1.8Ghz without HyperThreading. So... you're not really upgrading, you're sidegrading. Don't let a motherboard hold you back, get a new one.
