2.7GHZ won't post anymore on my AMD X2

For some reason whenever I got to turn on my computer it won't POST at the speed I've had it set to for the past week. Any idea why this could be? Thanks in advance.

Some CPUs do decrease in overclock capacity over time (there's a thread about it somewhere here). But... I'm assuming you have an AMD processor... if a C2D processor won't POST at 2.7ghz, then I'd venture to guess that something's wrong.

Yeah it is an AMD X2 proc. Would it decrease in overclocking potential over the course of a few days though?

Doubtfull, but it could be the mobo that's crapping out and with a increasing amount of vdroop your cpu might no longer post. Does your PC beep once, or it doesn't even do that ?

Any number of things could cause your maximum CPU overclock to decrease:

1. Higher room ambient temps because of the weather?
2. Dust decreasing airflow through the HSF fins?
3. Something decreasing case airflow in/out?
4. Power problems because of the household wiring...or a failing PSU?

I'm pretty sure it's 4 beeps. 1 long and 3 short. Could the BIOS cause something like this, because I heard that the BIOS on the Asus M2N-E is horrible and causes a lot of overclocking problems. I'm not sure if it would cause this though. Thanks for the help so far.

Sounds like memory, I heard the same when I stuck in two extra 512mb modules, and I was running my normal overclock, so it wanted to post, with 4x512mb at ddr370 settings or so. But nforce 4 can't do that, has to be ddr333 MAX.

Try removing 1-2 sticks, perhaps ?

Alright sounds good, I'll update you when I do it. If it were the memory maybe that would be a good thing because I have other things to RMA while I'm at it.
