The 2.66Ghz P4 is $295 at TCWO. That's over $100 cheaper than other reliable retailers (Newegg $415 / Googlegear $397)

This deal is good but...

not to crap the thread but you can get a 2.4GHzB PIV for under $200 at newegg. Speed difference is negligable and the 2.4 might overclock higher (if you are into o/c)

Yo2,

Guess you dont know about the c1 steppings do you. I've had 3 2.4's in the last week, one get's to 2.9, the other 2 wont go past 2.7.

Everyone so far is getting 3.2ghz no problem out of the NEW 2.66's

You werent thread crapping. you just didnt know.

Umm.. So I'm thinking of upgrading my measly PII 450 Machine.

If I get this CPU, what kind of motherboard is recommended?
Obviously, one that can support "a 533MHz-capable Socket478 mainboard", but does anyone have a specific board in mind?

So.. If I get the MOBO and the CPU and assemble all this, (probably adding some DDR memory cuz I doubt it will take my P100 memory), can I simply move over my Maxtor 40GIG 7200 RPM Hard drive and other peripherals like my aging Creative Labs Soundcard 2-3 years old? Course, I will have to install an OS (XP most likely) and my TNT 3 graphics card would still probalby work with (AGP).

Please send link of recommended/tested MOBO's
Please send link of OVERCLOCKING sites.

Thanks a bunch.. I'm doing all this upgrade cuz of that damn UNREAL Tournament 2003 coming out.
Sheesh.. the things I do for games =)

:DYeah, They honored it!! I ended up getting 2 and both have shipped. Might have been one of those 72 hour sale things, but probably just a misprint. I should have bought 10!!!!
