2,600 Pages Of Clinton Documents Withheld

Story here.

FTA:

The National Archives is withholding from the public about 2,600 pages of records at President Clinton's direction, despite a public assurance by one of his top aides last month that Mr. Clinton "has not blocked the release of a single document."

What a stunning surprise.

Bill Clinton out trying to pull the wool over folks eyes, as usual. This is the kind of crap that a shaky pointed finger and a red, angry face can't gloss over. I'd say Slick has a few questions to answer...

I'd say the information that Bush has systematically and regularly destroyed and covered up overshadows Clinton's wrongdoing about 100 fold.

Not that anyone is saying Clinton was squeaky clean (well, probably techs and senseamp,) but he's just not in the same league as Bush 43.

Agreed on both. Pabs, if you are truly incensed by this....send GW a big thank you card. After all, he is the one that extended the length of time that presidential docs could be withheld.

That said, Clinton is trying to save face for himself and keep Hillary in the race. They will get released....right around the time that Chelsea is finishing up her first term as a Congresswoman or Senator.

within limits, I respect the need for presidents to be able to receive confidential advice (of course, the limits end at the point where possible illegality begins)

One problem with that. It would almost always be necessary to look at that confidential advice and discussion to ascertain and determine whether "possible illegality" has begun.

This is something I can agree with you on. The old 2 wrongs don't make a right fall over dead when it comes to the whoring that Bush has done compared to 10 Bill Clintons.

Pure shit Pab.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Nice try at qualifying it though

Bush is still in office. Clinton has been gone for almost 8 years. There's no valid argument to be made unless GWB sits in a similiar position 8 years from now. What is Slick (and her heiness) hiding? What have they got to lose?

Forget what Bush is doing for a moment...

Hillary is running for President right now and there me be things in those pages that would hurt her run for the White House. That is a problem.
If Hillary wasn't running then I don't think this would be that big of a deal.

Anyone who wants to blame Bush for this and give Bill and Hillary a pass is just asking for more of the same.

At least I will be firmly back in Democrat country only 20 miles from New York City.

Pabs, I think your idiot obsession with the Clintons just might stem from the fact that both Bill and Hilary have bigger dicks than you do. ;)

I am not sure I understand why anyone here would want the Clintons protected from investigation. Don't you know if you were in the same position that you would be screwed?

No, the Bushies have illegally deleted MILLIONS of emails they claim were accidentally destroyed. http://rawstory.com/news/2007/...ost_at_least_1203.html
In 8 years there won't be any docs left for them to bother hiding.

What do we have here... "But Bush!" "But, But, But..."

The Clinton Kool-Aid Sippers are out in force.

If it was a Republican instead...then you would then see their outrage and a full investigation would be demanded immediately. And that's the TRUTH in case anyone here has the belly for it! It's amazing to see such blatant hypocrisy throughout nearly every P&N thread...all in the name of extreme partisanship. So many people here have such extremist ideologies that it supercedes the basic principles of what is right and what is wrong.

It is total BS that anything a Dem does is OK or not as bad as what a Rep did...or vice-versa. These extremists never call a spade a spade and can't seem to think past whether a person has a (D) or an (R) after their name instead actually discussing the principles of the matter. This is so f*cking sad.

I think that you and Pabster are confusing apologetic and apathetic behavior.

The sentiment seems to be that they should be reviewed but Bush has changed the presidential records rules to ungodly lengths so this becomes a moot point and it has no chance of happening before the next decade kicks in at the very least.

I haven't seen a single post stating that the records should NOT be released.

Except Bush administration was required by law to preserve these emails. There is nothing requiring Bill Clinton to release those documents.
So you are the Kool-Aid drinker. Your party had a chance to govern, it botched it.
You guys need to do some self reflection into what went wrong, but instead you are still obsessed with Clinton bashing.

And...how many posts stating what Clinton does is not nearly as bad as what Bush does? Smells like typical left-wing apologetic partisan politics to me...no?

I see. YOU make a statement about Bush, I respond to it, you then cut out your reference to Bush to make it look like I raised it, and suddenly I have BDS. Pabst doth protest too much, methinks. Let's see what I was responding to that you snipped:

I merely pointed out that you won't be able to make these criticisms of Bush in 8 years because he's getting rid of all the bad docs now, including approximately 10 million emails and a torture-porn tape or two. Seems like a valid response to a statement you made. Granted, you didn't bring Bush up first and were just responding to someone else who had, just as I was.

Selective cut and paste sure made me look like I brought him up first though didn't it?

No.

Apathetic to a situation != apologetic for a situation

I can not give a rat's ass about something or know that fighting is it futile but that in no way means that I think that it should be excusable or that it is right.

I think this all depends on what your personal definition of the word "Is", is.

Joking aside, that's not cool. Yes, the nasty dealings that the Bush administration has gotten into are worse by at least 100 fold, but that doesn't make Clinton a good guy.

Don't mind me, though, I'd like to see 100% transparent government for everyone, so I'm just a crazy kook.
