i just called in about an ad in the classifieds for a 1986 Camaro. the guy didn't have a lot of time, but he said the exterior only had a little bit of rust/chipped paint, no dents or anything, and that it had the 2.4L enging. i'm assuming this is a 4 banger? i had never heard of a 2.4L camaro before

btw, he's selling it for $1200 canadian so i figure there has to be somethin wrong

edit: does anyone know of any sites with stats on older cars like this? camaro, mustang etc.?

No Camaro ever came from the factory with a 4 banger. He must mean a 2.8L which is a V6.

Correction....There were a few years that the Camaro really stooped low and shoehorned a 4 banger under the hood. Let me do a little research

Yes they did,82 was the 3rd Gen and they put 4 bangers in em for a few years.Unless you're looking for a project car or get it real cheap I would pass it up.

i wonder how much hp the 4 banger put out. i'm not even gonna think about getting it though, there is some body rust which i can't easily fix on the cheap, plus 33k miles sounds a little low for this price

Ewwwww
And I thought the 6 cyl was a Slowmaro....4 is just sad!

LOL don't buy that....you have a honda civic engine in a 3500 pound car...that'll be fast lol!

Considering the 87 Olds Cutlass Supreme I had in high school only had 160 HP (ANnd it was a 5.0L V8), I would be the 4 banger is lucky to have 100HP

Those are the best project cars too.. Put a nice 383 or something in one followed by a killer drivetrain and still pay for the 4 banger insurance :D

I bet that cutlass had more than 160... to be able to pull big cars away from a stop they have to have big stinking engines... My '81 caddilac fleetwood has a 4.0 liter V6 and it can pull away fairly quickly if I floor it. Still thinking of dropping in a 6.0 liter though. Anyway to change an automatic to a manual? lol

It's been a while, but I looked it up in a car mag one time, and the specs were 160HP, but the Torque was in the 200's. the car had nice pickup, and actually got great mileage (22-25mpg). It was a serious dog compared to the high performance 442 version my friend had, which was an 85. Same motor, different heads and rear end

200 torque from a 4 banger without forced induction? Maybe if it was a diesel..

Those american cars are funny: HUGE engines and no bang

<< 160 HP 5.0l V8 >>

unbelievable but since gas don't cost nothing there ain't no need for technology - I guess
