2.4Ghz Wireless Interference

I'm shopping for a new phone system for my home. Are there apparent interferences when using a wireless Lan system (I have Netgear ME102 AP and MA401 wireless card) with any 2.4Ghz phone system at home?

Thanks

they say there is.. but if you get a linksys you can soft hack the baby to give you more wattage output...

i have the linksys wireless and my computer room to my room is about 15 ft, i have no problem with a 2.4gig phone that my sister uses.. but i guess i'll try turning the phone on next to the router and check signals...

From my personal experience, if you are going to run a wireless LAN, find a different phone other than 2.4Ghz. The still make some very good 900Mhz phones and you wont have to deal with problems that may or may not arise from interference.

At work we just got done testing a CISCO Wireless Access Point that ran at 2.4Ghz, and the problems with interference were numerous. Everything from the WAP shutting itself down to data corruption.

Agree with Need4Speed. Your situation will be unique, of course, but I've stuck to my 900 MHz dual spread spectrum phones (and - ack! - a landline by the pc, but then it's got a regular modem too...).

Using the Amtel controller hack won't necessarily overpower a 2.4 Phone. If the phone is Direct Sequence then you can overcome the interference. Most phones are Frequency hopping and channel changing on the AP is useless. The safe bet is getting a 900 Mhz phone and leaving the 2.4 airwaves to the LAN equipment, OR getting 802.11a equipment.
