2.4Ghz or 5Ghz Wifi for Battery Life in a Smart Phone?

Can't seem to find this direct question asked online. Is there any easy answer?

Does it make more sense to be on 2.4GHz N or 5GHz AC?

Or is this a stupid question, and it doesn't change the power usage at all, and just use whatever is available?

My non-scientific guess is 2.4GHz would do better on average because it has better range and wall penetration. Even though it's more crowded and may require more resends, I have a feeling that doesn't use more than compensating for a low signal.

The switch from 2.4 to 5ghz had zero impact on battery life with my galaxy s4.
