Purchased a wireless keyboard to go with my desktop PC XP. I thought there's nothing to it put batteries in the keyboard install the hardware 2.4 to PC and ready to go. I also have a wire less mouse on the same PC that works very nicely. Must be missing something as the keyboard will not function? :\

I believe the mouse is also a 2.4 transmitter. Would anybody like to give their input, an assistance with this matter? I even removed the USB chip that powers the mouse to see if that would make any difference without any success. Appreciate hearing from our Forum Family as how to to resolve this matter. Thank you very much! SM USAF 62-66

Did you turn the keyboard on? Most have an on/off switch.

Have you tried that keyboard on another computer? It's possible it's defective.

I've tried it on 3 PCs. You bring up a good point:D however I searched all over the board and haven't the foggiest of how you turn this on. Maybe the seller can help me with that. Thank's for the insight! SM

Some don't have an on switch. I have one at work that doesn't while mine at home does. I'd say if it doesn't work on 3 computers and you have the batteries in properly and its on, then something is wrong with it.

Just a couple of things that come to mind? Not sure if you will be able to handle these? Do you need software to install a keyboard + dongle?? and will, should, any 2.4 USB transmitter work?? Just a thought! Thanks very much for your input. SM

No, generally you NEED to use the dongle that came with the device. The exception are a group of newer Logitech 2.4Ghz wireless keyboards and mice that use a "unifying" receiver. You can use special Logitech software to "pair" multiple devices to the same receiver.

That could be a good reason why it's not working. Did it come with a receiver dongle?

I got the dongle that came with the device. However I do have other mouse dongles on other PC's that I presume are working when turned on or maybe even off. They set a few feet apart. These are 2.4 mouse dongles only as I thought it would be nice to have a wireless keyboard to go along. Other wise the keyboards I'm using are all wired. Apparently from the discussion It would be difficult to get a separate keyboard to work on a PC that has it's own tuned 2.4 mouse dongle even with the separate 2.4 dongle that is received with keyboard. That is one of the scenarios I thought about.

Now I would be happy to just get the keyboard working by itself with a wired mouse. It would be interesting to have a duo unit keyboard & mouse with one dongle. Not sure if there would be conflict between dongles of the other PC's with a unit that is using one 2.4 transmitting dongle to power two separate devices ( keyboard & mouse )? Hope this may help somewhat? Thanks very much for the assistance. SM

What is the make & model of the keyboard?
Some have a 'pair' button on them, some need a paperclip to engage that.
Also, make sure the battery is facing the correct direction. (I seen this happen before).

What are the other devices hooked up to this machine as well? If you have any USB 3.0 devices, that can cause interference as well.
