2.36 odds on a lottery scratch off are damn good

I'm loving this 20 dollar scratch off. 1:2.36. Lowest prize is a free ticket followed by 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 200,000. I've played 10 tickets total and had only one loser.

2x100 buck winners (200)
1x200 buck winner (200)
3x50 buck winner (150)
2x free ticket (40)
1x Entry into 200,000 drawing

That's 550 on 200 bet not counting the free tickets. Does that meet or exceed the EV?

Well considering there are almost 5x as many $25 or a free ticket prizes as there are for all the $50+ prizes combined, I'd say you've gotten extremely lucky to get 6 higher value prizes versus only 2 lower value prizes (not to mention that you've gotten winners at a much higher rate than expected).

That's what I figured. Just got lucky. It's to the point now where we're disappointed if we don't have a winner.

in va, $1M top prizes in the $20 scratchers are paid in equal annual installments for 25 years. thats $40k/yr.
Odds any prize 1:2.53

The $5 win for life scratchers are paid $1k/week for life. (ie: $52k/yr).
odds any prize 1:4.3

the $5 scratcher seems like a much better deal?
