2-3-2-5 timings

I am setting up a mobile barton on a dfi infinity. I purchased hyperX PC3500, which seems to hit a wall at 215 FSB on this motherboard, regarless of voltages and settings. It defaults to 2.5-4-4-9, but it will do 2-3-2-5 on this board at 215FSB, with only 2.7 vdimm. So far, this is only memtest86+ stable, since I have not installed an OS yet.
I had never heard ayone running other than 2-2-2-x, or 2-3-3-x, 2-4-4-x so I wondered if there is a reason not to.

Mine's rated for 2.6v at those timings...I would think yours would be, too. 😉

Kingston is so large they dont but as much quality in their products as they used to. You are going to have to up the VDIMM to get decent OC's. The OCZ, Corsair, Crucial lead the way right now.

Just up the voltage and try to lower it.

i run 2-3-2-11 with ch-5 on an nf7-s.
also, all nf2 boards run best with the last value set to 11. so 2-3-2-11 will do a bit better than 2-3-2-5

Thank you all. After I posted this, I started seeing 232x timings in more places, like Joe's FS thread😉
I had read about the phenomenon of setting that last one to 9 or 11, so I will do that. it has chugged along with memtest86+ at 2325 for 6 hours now, I think I will try the install with the 232x settings.

I'm interested in a similar issue. I have Kingston HyperX PC-4000 for my A64 3200+ (see sig), but it has horrible latencies @ PC-3200 (3-3-6-11). From what I understand, better latencies REALLY help the A64's due to their onboard memory controller.
First question: is this accurate about the better performance? Noticeable?
Second question: I've been scouring the FS/FT's for 2-2-2 RAM and I've come across a trader who would be willing to trade 2x512MB Corsair PC-3200LL (2-3-2-6) for my Kingston straight up. For a good even trade and the fact that no one wants to trade their OCZ/BH-5 for mine +cash, is it worth holding out till I get 2-2-2 RAM?
Sorry if this has been answered before
