$2.2 trillion illegal alien taxpayer sticker shock

A new study by the Heritage Foundation's Robert Rector found a household headed by an individual without a high school education, including about two-thirds of illegal aliens, costs U.S. taxpayers more than $32,000 in federal, state and local benefits. That same family contributes an average of $9,000 a year in taxes, resulting in a net tax burden of $22,449 each year.

If the lower figure of 12 million illegal aliens is used for estimation purposes, the total tax burden translates to $2.2 trillion.

Over the next ten years the total cost of low-skill households to the taxpayer (immediate benefits minus taxes paid) is likely to be at least $3.9 trillion," Rector writes. "This number would go up significantly if changes in immigration policy lead to substantial increases in the number of low-skill immigrants entering the country and receiving services

I knew it was costing us a lot with an estimated 46% of illegal immigrants being on welfare and most taking advantage of many other government services but these figures given are simply mind blowing!

At this rate we are going to end up coughing up like 90% of our paychecks in taxes just to pay for the illegal immigrant expenditures. They will literally end up financially better off than we taxpayers soon and that is just crazy.

22449 x 12000000 = 269388000000 = $269.4 Billion 😕

NM, $2.2 Trillion is over the lifetime of the household.

Was there a point they were trying to make?

Illegal aliens, and individuals without HS education are a great value for the people who actually pay the taxes.

Illegals never add any cost to America. They don't burden school with overcrowded classes, roads with traffic jam, hospital unpaid bills, drunk driving incidents.

We need more illegals to work cheap. $5 an hour is too much, we can get more illegals from other countries like Asians, Middle Easterners, Africans, import them to compete in our capitalistic economy to lower Illegal wages to say $2 an hour. Imagine how much things would be cheaper. And so much more diversity.

Things get cheaper for business owners...

And if you're going to try to blame drunk driving on illegal immigration, go back to the other thread and lose the argument there, if you please.

Read carefully dude. I wrote illegals never add any cost to America. They are all benefit, no cost. I think we need more illegals to make things cheaper for business.

And I don't care what your other thread is. This is this thread, you're writing here.

Oh, but they do add those costs. The average citizen isn't really paying for them though.

I assumed you were being sarcastic.

That's okay. I think we need more illegals from different part of the world. It'll add more diversity and make for good competition of illegal market, and benefit Americans.

Serious or not, illegal immigration exists on a significant scale for exactly one reason: to increase the profitability of domestic capital in America at the expense of Americans.

We have enough problems dealing with the issues that our country currently has in regard to infrastructure, healthcare and education.

Oh wait...what if instead of spending $250 million dollars a year on things like PR shilling the government actually tried to address some of the problems instead of spending it to just make them sound pretty (or awful), and using them to divide Americans along partisan lines?

It wouldn't solve everything but it would be a fantastic place to start.

ugh... worldnetdaily.com. How did I know your link to this info was going to be from wnd before I even clicked on it? I wouldn never use their statistics in a valid argument. It is interesting to see that the story above does exactly what it was meant to do: rile up the xenophobes here.

Ding ding ding!

Half the US pays hardly any income tax at all. The top 10% pay the lion's share. The top 10% also provide jobs for the bottom 50%. It's not rocket surgery. You don't have to be the smartest tool in the shed to figure that out.

What they don't pay in taxes isn't why they shouldn't be here. They shouldn't be here becaue they violated the law and circumvented normal channels to get here.

You win! 😀 you identified a post and a web site designed to keep opinions divided on an emotional hot-button rather than looking at the elephant in the living room worth of problems our country currently has.

Emotional, ill-validated nonsense of an article designed to generate a reaction.

These statistics are pathetic.

You include two-thirds of illegal immigrants in with the largest welfare-using group in America, Americans without a high school education. The fact is, according to Social Security's chief actuary, two-thirds of illegal immigrants paid payroll taxes. They contribute up to $7 billion annually to Social Security.

...yet they are not entitled to many public benefits, including Social Security, Medicaid, food stamps, etc. So you have a population that for the most part pays taxes but does not recieve benefits from those taxes.

Ask any economist and they'll tell you immigrants contribute more than they take.

If you want to debate your anti-immigration on the basis of national security, I'll still disagree but I will understand your concerns. This crap lately by people creating statistics out of thin air when the economic data clearly is in favor of immigrants is pathetic.

We don't need those things, let the rest of the world move in and take them. At 1.5 million immigrants a year all you have to do is nothing.

How is the average taxpaying citizen not paying for it? Also, don't ignore the invisible back-end costs that no one wants to talk about -- the costs of increased strain on the environment, increasing real estate prices (fixed amount of land, more demand for it equals price increase), increased traffic congestion, more American unemployment and underemployment as a result of pressure on wages.

As far as drunk driving goes, according to VDare.com evidence shows that illegals are more likely to drive drunk than are citizens and that the Mexican culture with its machicismo promotes drinking and driving.

...and...it isn't in the majority of Americans' rational selfish economic interests for them to be here.

Several economists would disagree with you, such as Nobel laureate Paul Samuelson and many, many others.

That?s right the only ones I mean the only ones who profit from illegal immigration are the business owners who hire them PERIOD!

The biggest lie of all about illegal immigration is businesses that use illegal immigrant labor pass on lower costs to their customers due to lower wage costs for them. They do NOT it goes right in their pocket, believe it!!!
