Costco for the week of Aug 7-13 has a coupon that you can buy (1) 100 Pack of TDK DVD+r or DVD-r, and you can get a second free.

Regular Price of a Spindle (100) DVD's is $39.99.

Product: TDK Printable Whie Disks DVD+R AND/OR DVD-R.

Coupon is found in the 'Member Passport to Savings'. If you don't have one you can ask for one at the customer desk. (They may or may not have some still. YMMV)

Highlights from Coupon back: Limit one Item per coupon; One Coupon per household; Orignal Coupon only; RainCheck may be issued of out of stock during promotion; Can't be combined with other offers.

Yup, and I've had good luck with them. I'd say this is a hot deal but I'm not sure I need 1.157 TB of DVD's (yes, I still have some left).

Anyone know the media code on these? I thought a recent tdk 16x didn't do so well for me but I may be mistaken. I do know my nec 3550 hates the new fuji + or - 16x (taiwan). Sometimes to can get verbatim mcc media for this price and so far its the only media all 4 burners I use like.

Also wondering about the media code..TDK is a good brand, but they've screwed me before on "Made in India" discs from a CMC plant.

It doesn't really matter too much about the brand, but more about the media code, which tells you which factory it came from.

I just pay a premium and pick up TY discs from Rima.

I have some +R TDK's from Costco that I picked up a few weeks ago, and some burned ones from last fall.

CMC MAG M01 (most recent media purchased)
Info about this media --> LINK
(TDK comments on bottom of chart.....but overall good)

RITEK R03 (1+ years ago)
Info about this media -->LINK (overall good)

and for what its worth, this media has performed excellent for me at work and home. I've had ZERO defects from both +R and -R Costco media.

I also have an Canon printer and print on these DVD's often.... As with inkjet printers printing on discs, if your fingers are wet when handling the discs, you'll smudge the ink.
--- to get around this, I just use a can of clear satain spraypaint from Lowes/homedepot. Gives the discs a nice texture feel and makes them waterproof.

My only gripe is that these discs are not hub-printable.....which is why I use a stack of TY's that are hub printable

Souka-Thanks for letting me know that they are not hub printable. I had been trying to figure that our through research and had not come up with anything yet.

Last time around with this deal the media code for the 16x DVD-r was TTH02. Media was junk IMO. Slowest I could burn at was 6x and I'd say about 12% of discs were coasters stopping at 20% done on several systems. Not worth it unless it's a different media code this time around. Also the dye seems to fade pretty fast, I got some and they are 6 months old and half as dark as newly burned ones.

If it's CMC don't waste your money. Staples puts their 50 pack CMC house brand on sale for $7.98 every few months. They usually offer $5 off coupons (which are usually posted to the Hot Deals forums all over the net) and with the $3 toner return rebates, some people are getting them for free or at most $3.00 per 50 pack.

The 16x burns aren't the greatest, especially for the -r's. They're good for backups and quick copies of stuff, but not for serious long term archiving. If you can find the 8x disks, get those instead.

If staples has the +r playa. They are M I China AML002. Outstanding burn quality for cheap. Only question is longevity really.

This is an inkjet printable disc, and the Staples is not, so I don't think the uses and intents are the same. I find these adequate for distributing the kid school performances to other parents.

I just burned one of these Costco purchased TDK DVD-R at 16X on a NEC 3500 with no apparent problems. DVD Identifier reports this to be a TTH02 disc.

I can't address the longevity issue, though I know this can be a problem. Some ( Samsung) Beall discs I burned in 2002 are no longer readable (despite being kept in a sealed album all of the time at home).

I picked up this up last time they had buy 1 get 1 free. The -R was TTH02. It always burns fine at 16x but I have had a few dvd drives and stand-alone players unable to access certain parts of a disc. Like if there were 5 divx files, 1 file would keep returning a cyclic redundency check error. So it's a good deal for the price but dont rely too heavily on them.

The DVD-R's I bought are indeed TTH02 branded media. I use them for general use so they are fine. On my Nec drives, they burn ar 16x.

No problems burning at 16x or 12x or even 10x. But try burning at slower speeds like 2 or 4x and forget about it. Also be wary of using to arcive stuff. Bought some the opther day and all of them have a halo where the dye changes color about 1/3 from the inner hub. Returned them and got more and same thing. The last offer they had months ago had the same problem and coincidently that's where it always coasters at on my burners.
I think hte staples deal for sony 50 dvdrs at $15 is a better deal since they are TYs and you can use coupons to get it down to roughly 100 for $20.
