Is it possible to connect two computers together, for internet connection sharing, using two10/100 nic cards aand a 10/100 router
and then use 2, 1 gig nic cards to connect each computer to each other just to share files.
My idea or hope is to use the 1 gig cards to share files and keep the file sharing from being hacked or viewed
my idea or hope is to also use the 10/100 router and nic cards to ONLY share and internet connection with firewall protection
currently I cant figure out how to set it up this way. I am sharing the internet connection but cant see my two computers.
I am only doing this because my pc-cillin logs show that I have had many attacks and I also noticed that my zipped file for spybot search and destroy was deleted....and I sure as hell didnt do it. I now have pc-cillin firewall up and I have the windows xp home sp1 internet connection firewal up on the 10/100 nic cards but not on the gig cards
Now i honestly believe there is too much that needs to be seen, when it comes to networking, so I'm not expecting to get the super fix it all answer in a forum....but I'm really just trying to save myself $99/hour. last time i spent that money it turned out i only needed a crossover cable.... btw my gig cards are connected using a cat 6 crossover cable.
