Nice overclock but, a Northwood Celeron is going to be dog slow no matter how high the clock is.

Well the old CPUmark score was:

2405.0

And its now:

3269.0

I still don't think its that bad for a 3 year old system. You think a 2.9ghz presscott is any better? The only thing holding me back is the fact that its RAM is crap. It can't take such a high FSB.

I will get this thing to 4ghz. On air cooling.

But any clue Why it can overclock so damn much to begin with?

The Prescott Celerons AFAIK are a fair bit better than the NW ones.
~10% faster in many cases, and I *think* the OC a bit better as well.

So whats with me pushing ~45% more out of this thing, and then it still being perfectly stable?
I really want to know how in the world it is doing this, after Dissing celerons for so long, I got one that didn't suck?

Atleast now I can say "All celerons are crap, except for this one that was on crack and hit a ~45% OC on Air cooling".

Most celerons oc very well, it's jsut that even oced, celerons cant hold their own in many enviroments. It will be raped in anything multimedia/chache related. your 2.9ghz celly may boe only as fast as a 2.3-2.4ghz p4 in multimedia apps, and around a 2.7ghz p4 in most other apps.

Rule of thumb is that the cheapest/lowest end components have the most headroom for ocing. I think X300s routinely get another 150-200mhz on the core like the 6200s/6600s do.

When I try to push it past 2.9ghz with this crappy ram it just can't take it. When I plug in my sticks of 4400, it autosets the FSB way too high. I'm getting 2 sticks of PC3200 today, so I will hit 3.4ghz or so.

@ 3.1ghz, windows dosen't boot, 1.625 Vcore.

I can't seem to find the setting on the Neo 2 platinum. Been fishing around a bit and I still can't find it.... I don't think that they would leave it out, I think that the proc just is cool like that.

Edit: When i put the AGP and PCI clocks back down to 66, it still wont run at 3Ghz. The ram just refuses to run this fast... Crappy PC2100.

Dude whoever said the C-D Prescott's are a "little" better have no idea. You can take a 2.8 GHz Prescott Celeron D and OC it to 4 GHz, it will match a P4 Extreme Edition.
