1TB Disk Drives

There seems to be quite a selection of 1TB disks these days and they are all quite affordable options. I have seen some F/W issues posted on the Seagate drives. And I am not a big fan of the Hitachi drives just because their roots are IBM. I had some bad experiences with IBM drives 4-5 years ago. I am not sure about the Samsung drives since I have not had any experience with them.

That pretty much leaves me with Western Digital as the last key player. I have had good luck with them to date so I'll probably stick with what works. I am looking to run a RAID 1 configuration with 1TB drives. My question is whether to go with the Green or Black series of drives? I pretty much leave my desktop turned on all the time so the power features with the Green series sounds good. But I am not so sure about the variable rotational speed and how it affects performance and maybe even synchronization in a RAID 1 configuration. Could someone please shed some light on this from your experience?

Thanks

Black series drives are faster than Green series. The power difference is negligible, IMHO.

I have two Samsung drives (1TB F1 and 500GB UJ), both of which run extremely cool and quiet. SPCR is a huge fan of their minimal acoustic output.
