I would probably go with (and actually, I did...) a Z68 mobo, but everything looks like it should work.

What kind of case are you pouring this into...?

He was recommending a different motherboard, not a graphics card. If you go with any of the Z68 boards you will be able to upgrade the cpu to Ivy Bridge next year when they come out, or whenever it is you decide to start replacing parts.

I knew he was recommending a mobo but i was looking for a graphics card. But is there anyway you can recommend a z68 for my config?

ASRock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3 comes highly recommended on this board.

Any of these should work too:
Gigabyte GA-Z68M-D2H
Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3
MSI Z68MA-G45 (B3)

Also, if you have a Micro Center close you can take advantage of their i5-2500k + Z68 mobo combo deal. The i5-2500k is $179.99 (in store only) and if you purchase it with any Z68 mobo they take an additional $50 off the mobo.

EDIT* I need to read a little more carefully, haha.

I have the Giga -D2H-B3 board, I got it Black Friday at MicroCenter with my i5 2500K. I think it's a pretty good deal, no problems with the mobo (as of yet... :hmm: )

I'll be shopping for a GPU after the first of the year, this is on my short list:

Will that first one ASROCK z68 link you gave me work for a 2.0 x16 graphics card it says 3.0 x16?

To each his own but I prefer to have a case with 120mm fans. Maybe I shouldn't make that comment since it might take you a while to find a case you really like. I know for me it's a headbreaker. But for cheap, I find the Coolermaster cases are OK.
And I cringe at the idea of saying this but some Corsair power supplies sometimes make a high-pitch noise. I have one but I also have a Fortron and Seasonic that are pretty silent. Seasonic I think are good, they're just a little on the expensive side sometimes.

You should have checked out the sticky and answered the questions there, however I'm going to comment anyway:

Change the case to something reputable like CM HAF 912 $50 AR. I figure you picked the Raidmax mainly for the fancy looks, but the quality isn't very good.

You have not mentioned what resolution you will be playing games at, but in general the dual-fan XFX 6870 is a great card for $150 AR.

The old-generation Corsair TX650 is horribly overpriced when the newer and just as good if not better XFX 650W is only $50 AR shipped on ncix.us.

You should get 2500K even if you're not planning to overclock right now. You'll have that option to tap into 30% more performance for just $10 more.

The mobo and RAM are good.

Okay ive added a 2500k! But why is radimax bad quality? i mean it has more positive reviews then most coolmaster cases? just wondering but please inform me!

I would tend to agree with levtv about the CoolerMaster case... I just finished my first build with a HAF 922 (mid-size) and it was a joy to work with... plenty of room for wires and big video cards, and the quality is certainly there. Very straight-forward.

Would the HAF 922 be alright? Also are all my new parts compatible ( about 4 posts up)

You could probably get by with the HAF912, like levtv mentioned, the 922 is just a bit bigger (and more expensive.) They are essentially the same case, just different sizes (and probably fan configuration.)

Well I can't say for sure that it's bad quality, just that there are some issues I can see just from looking at the newegg page:

1) top-mounted PSU which means hot air will have to pass through the PSU as it is used as an exhaust, and it also means cable management will probably be trickier
2) practically no cable management holes in the motherboard tray
3) 80mm fans which tend to be noisier than 120mm due to higher RPM needed to actually push a decent amount of air; typically you don't see 80mm fans except in low end cases
4) 1 year warranty vs HAF's 2, though 1 is pretty standard for a case
5) awkward placement of front panel connectivity behind the front door

In any case, the Raidmax would probably be fine as it's just a case... If you really like the looks, go for it, but do consider the above points. If you want the HAF 912 to look fancier, consider adding some LED fans on it, like a 200mm red or blue Cooler Master megaflow fan on the front or top

No. Just no. More watts does not make it a better choice. Apevia is a terrible PSU brand, I would not expect it to be capable of outputting the amount of watts that it advertises.

I have already recommended you the XFX 650W at $50 AR. That makes it cheaper than the Apevia, if only because of the mail-in rebate; however, it is also a lot more reliable and better quality because it is manufactured by Seasonic. A pretty obvious reason for that: Apevia offers one year of warranty on its unit, XFX offers five.

I've seen the diagrams on tomshardware showing the heat disspation and people can argue that bottom mounted is better but it also means sucking up dust from underneath the case. That means you'd likely want to use a filter which ends up raising the temperature inside the psu anyway. I'm just not convinced on bottom mounted cases.
Waranty, shmaranty. Who's ever going to use a waranty?
I'd also prefre an after-market cooler for the CPU that takes a 120mm fan.

But ive read the reviews and there 90% 4-5 star and it seems like when and if they do fail it within a year or 2 which would be good since you can get a 2 year warranty right?
