1st time PC builder! Are these PC Components Compatible?

Eh. A power supply is supposed to last a decade or longer if you don't stress it properly. The XFX power supply would probably last at least that 5 years if you used it in a system that consumes 650 watts at full load because that's what it's designed for and backed up by warranty. But it'd be unadvisable to run it at 650W load - this is just for sake of argument.

Newegg reviews don't count when it comes to PSUs. The users basically think like this: "I've had this PSU for a while now, it seems to work and it looks nice, so five stars." See anything wrong with that? What would happen if professional reviewers looked at power supplies like this?

No. Just no. More watts does not make it a better choice. Apevia is a terrible PSU brand, I would not expect it to be capable of outputting the amount of watts that it advertises.

I have already recommended you the XFX 650W at $50 AR. That makes it cheaper than the Apevia, if only because of the mail-in rebate; however, it is also a lot more reliable and better quality because it is manufactured by Seasonic. A pretty obvious reason for that: Apevia offers one year of warranty on its unit, XFX offers five.

But ive read the reviews and there 90% 4-5 star and it seems like when and if they do fail it within a year or 2 which would be good since you can get a 2 year warranty right?

Bottom line: Why pay $60 for a shit power supply when you can pay $50 for an excellent one?

Why ask for advice here when you seem hell bent on ignoring the PSU advice? The PSU is the heart of the computer, if you buy the best components and power them with a crap power supply you are asking for trouble.

i gotta say, i bought that XFX PSU that mfenn linked and its pretty sweet. Very quiet, hefty, looks nice, built nice, sleeved cables. Go for it.
