?Yeah, I?d purchase that. Because I?m concerned about all aspects of my health. And it?s affordable,? another man said.

How much you wanna bet this guy drinks Perrier? Or at least Evian? Geez, buy a Brita pitcher and you get the same quality!

Just more marketing to irrational fears.

Fact: Your tap water is more tightly regulated than any bottled water and therefore safer. If you don't like the taste of your local tap water (most places are fine) filter it.

If your fridge is dirty enough to make your ice taste funny, clean your damn fridge.

I don't know about that. A little town here in Central, IL (Farmington) just came off of a multi-week boil order. When I was growing up in Central,IL I remember multiple boil orders being issued. In my hometown a bunch of bugs got into the water supply and layed eggs and there were bugs coming out of peoples water lines. Not cool.

I know Dasani had a small incident in Europe, but in the US I've never heard of a bottled water boil order...let alone the number of incidents that just my small town had growing up.

You've never heard of a bottled water boil order because bottled water companies are virtually unregulated. Many have been found to have much higher levels of pollutants in them than is allowed in tap water.

At least the municipal water companies warn you.

At any rate, you can rest assured that when the boil order is lifted your tap water will be perfectly safe.

BTW, I live in central IL as well (Springfield). The tap water here tastes fine.

Bottled water is a scam.

Your predictability is almost humorous.

I wouldn't call it a scam. It is a nice convenience when I'm away from home (travelling or just running errands around town) to just run into a store and grab a bottle of water to drink.

WHY?

Just filter your tap water before freezing it...

That's what we do.

I store my raw meat in plastic bags in my freezer, or in the sealed plastic container it came in, or wrapped in butcher's paper and aluminum foil. I don't set a raw chicked up there without any barrier. That is how you get freezer burn...

Ice can pick up funky flavors from the freezer, but the main problem comes from having hard water. I have really hard water where I live. Lots of calcium and iron. Lots. I don't have an ice maker, and consequently don't use much ice since I make it myself and I'm lazy. The problem is that my frost free freezer tends to sublimate my ice. So a fresh tray of ice can dwindle to nothing in a few months. After a few weeks, the cubes are noticably smaller, and the hard water is, therefore, concentrated. When you drop it into a beverage, the hard water deposits don't go back into solution, they just settle to the bottom and form a white cloud of nasty bits.

So, if I'm having a party and I'm going to use a lot of ice, I freeze up stuff out of my Pur filter and bag it in a large zip-top bag in advance, or I break down and spend a few bucks on a bag of ice.

This all being said, I *might* by a tray or two, just to check it out, and keep around to put in scotch.

What the fvck has pre cooked bacon ever done to you?!?!?!

Pre cooked bacon FTW! Actually I cook, pre cooked bacon. I like it really crispy, and precooked bacon is less messy than nuking raw bacon.

Penn and Teller did an episode of bullshit on bottled water, you should check it out.

Vacum sealers are fantastic for freezer storage. They beat the pants off regular freezer bags or wrapping.

Everything is completely sealed and the food keeps a lot longer. Since it is a pain for me to get to the store (and I live alone) I usually go to Costco and buy a bunch of meats at the same time and individually seal and freeze them. The plastic is pretty tough and smells are kept to a minimum.

QFT, they even have the boxes with membranes in them now so there is no chance that you can spill the baking soda in the fridge.

I can't even really comment on this. Flabbergasted I am . . .

I buy precooked bacon because it's easier and faster to cook. And I would buy this ice product as well because it's not tap water cubes like most of our ice cubes our. I wont drink tap water, but i do use our ice machine, an although it has a filter, it's not bottled water.

I don't use ice for anything except alcoholic beverages.

For this I make my own ice with trays and my home purified RO water.

not every place has safe tap water. i lived in northern il. Where the city (dekalb) has been sued to clean the water a few times. it seems every summer we had a boil order. so we started buying bottled water.

I moved about 2 years ago into a house wiht a well. the water is ok but does not taste great. but the prevous owners installed a RO system. man its great.

My fridge has an auto ice maker. I wonder if it goes through the water filter first. Hmmm. I kinda doubt it, but i hardly use ICE from it anyways.
