1st post! NEW NVIDIA driver! 1.0.5.0

omfg, we went through detonator2, detonator3, just started to get detonator4 (the 7xx series) and now we're back to 1??

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

😛

That's what I was wondering, Soccerman. It smells kinda fishy.. how can enabling support for goggles increase performance by 20%?

The FSAA rocks with these drivers. There's different FSAA selections and the clarity is much imporved. Look at the menu screen in Unreal Tournament and compare the sharpness of the text with previous drivers to this one. The FSAA is sharper and cleaner looking than before.

So far it's working fine for me.

the big test will come tonight when i fire up Rogue spear. If it doesnt drop me back to my desktop then it's good.🙂

Anyone trying these out on TnT2s? If not, I guess I'll take the plunge 🙂

If it's good, I'm going to want the 2k drivers!

Anyone have any benchmarks up? Prefered comparing det3 *cough* 6.31 *cough* to these new ones? Q3A benchys? Not Mark3d?

I don't like these 1.0.5.0 drivers 🙁

Even though it brought back the coolbits tab from 6.50, it reduced my framerate in Q3 by 7fps average 🙁

AdamK47 - 3DS

What have they changed with the FSAA? I'm running win2k so i cant try these out 🙁 Maybe they've implemented RGSS or some type of multisampling. That sure would be a welcome feature to new drivers. What i want to know is why every time nVidia seems to touch their drivers to fix one thing, the other seems to malfunction.

Blessed be 🙂

Well I tried them and the only thing different about them was that my Quake 3 framerates went down. The corrupted Start Menu problem hasn't been fixed so I've gone back to the 6.72 drivers.

These new detonators are sweet! They're lot faster in Giants and Deus Ex - the only two games which aren't fast enough already - than any of the older releases. In Deus Ex stuttering, trademark of Unreal engine, has gone down to almost glide-like level - 1024x768/32bit plays smooth. Giants still isn't very smooth (it's around 25-35FPS, 800x600/32bit full detail), but there's a really noticeable worst-case performance boost. Furthermore, FSAA is now faster (Q3 playable at 640x480/32bit w/ 4-sample FSAA) and color saturation looks to have been tweaked.

I recommend everyone to give a try. I've encountered no crashes or anomalies yet.

sorry bro, that requires hardware support. that's not a driver thing.

What i want to know is why every time nVidia seems to touch their drivers to fix one thing, the other seems to malfunction.

indeed, that's been a beef with me for awhile.

Zambonni - I wonder if these are the first drivers
with help from the 3dfx boys

I doubt it, 3dfx guys is probably working on the polishing up the Geforce3 ultra card or still sharing their mighty knowledge to nVidia, indeed, they gave nVidia much needed technology.
Great Buy nvidia.
