OK, i have never bought a PC game before. I have been more of a nintendo, super nintendo, dreamcast, PS kind of guy. Based on this thread i think i may buy my first PC game. I am a big final fantasy fan. Or should I just wait for FFX-2 to come out in a few days. Im wondering if i can play two at the same time. Hmmmmm

Do you want to spend $12 a month on a game?

or

Do you want to dress up girls for magical powers?

FFXI is good, but hard!

I'm pretty much a role playing veteran, but I've been playing FFXI for 1.5 weeks, and I'm only level 8.

It's like $10 and change per month. Definately one of the cheaper MMORPGs out there.

if its ur first PC gaming experience, don't bother with MMORPG"s
I'd recommend the classics..........
Medal of Honor Allied Assault
or JK3 Academy
or
No One Lives Forever 1 or 2
or Baldur's Gate 1/2
or Age of Empires 2
Medieval Total War
or Dungeon Keeper
or Warcraft 3

:) enjoy

My first MMORPG to.. im getting the hang of it
Level 9 RedMage :)

You should def give it some thought $40 for 30days... then $13/month after. If you hate it.. kiss the $40 goodbye heh.

Buy it and try it if you want too.
$13.00 a month is not bad for entertainment, u spend that much on a movie ticket, play your MMORPG for 2 hours a month and you've gotten your use.

Must resist urge to try it myself, I've been clean from everquest for a month and a half now.
I miss it.
Eek!

True but the $13/month spent on a movie with the wife makes the wife happy whereas the $13/month spent on mmorpg will undoubtedly result in divorce and loss of job.

Here are the links to find out all you need to know about both games:

Final Fantasy XI for PC

Final Fantasy X-2

From what I've read (I've played neither yet), FFXI is supposedly VERY good. Square has mostly gotten over the growing pains every MMORPG's face, and play is fairly smooth. Plus, the amount of players is astounding when you figure in that not only are there are fellow Americans playing, but also Japanese players who have had the game for months now. Plus, when FFXI is released on the PS2 (rumored March 2004), that's even more players to play alongside.

Final Fantasy X-2 is definitely different from previous incarnations, so definitely read up some reviews on it. Having played and beat FFVII through FFX, I don't think I'm gonna pick up X-2. They messed with the formula too much IMO.

So if you don't mind $13 a month and a steep learning curve, FFXI on the PC is the way to go.

yeah i think i will jump into the world of MMORP with FFXI. Looks interesting and certainly a challenge. went to the website, Do i really have to use an ATI 9000 or something like that. How will the game look just using onboard video?

LOL...don't bother with onboard video.
Download the benchmark utility from their website and you'll know if you need to upgrade

I can't believe you've never bought a PC game before . . . Good Lord.

And yes, you will have to upgrade from integrated, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Just because you did that when you played, don't assume that's why everybody does.
