TeddyKGB,

you mention money as not being an object here, but how much are you reasonably looking to put down for this system. Do you want a super rig in the $2000 class or the $3000 class.

now, this is for a little fun, but take a look at this computer listed here. it is maxed out in pretty much every facet and sections for parts of a computer: the god box

hope this helps somewhat..... enjoy and good luck :)

I would have to recommend the Epox 8KHA+ - especially if you are not buying a GF4 (due to the capacitor problem). It is super stable and OC's fairly well.

Yeah, Metro, that's quite the box (the God Box). However, when I used the phrase "money no object" I was looking for info that wasn't primarily based on cost considerations. I'm not looking for the most expensive system you can possibly build. :D

I'm going to build a single-processor (AMD-the little guy) system with the best memory/chipset option I can get. I'll probably end up buying a mobo capable of supporting at least 512MB of DDR333. What's more, I'll be using a 160 SCSI controller and 15,000rpm HDD. The processor question is elementary--I'll definitely use AMD, and it'll more than likely be a XP1900+ or XP2000+.

The question really is which mobo/chipset/memory combo to go with? I want speed and stability, but I also want some features to expand with (USB 2.0, for example). I like the speed/stability of the Soltek, but talk about no features! I also like the ASUS A7V333, but you can't buy it anywhere! I need to read up on the Gigabyte 7VRXP, it seems to have the features, but we'll see about performance.

Also, I like what I read about VIA, so I'll probably be going with a VIA chipset mobo as well. Well, what do you think? Does any of this make even a little bit of sense? Maybe we should stop thinkin' and start drinkin'
