1st HDD crashed, Cannot access w/2nd HDD to recover, Profiles password protected

Hello,

My primary HDD crashed with the system files being corrupted and missing.

I am trying to recover some files I had on it by setting it up as an extra HDD on my 2nd computer.

Problem: I password protected my profile and I cannot gain access due to the password.

It has been years ago since this happened to me and I forgot how to disable those password protected user profiles.

Please advise, I appreciate your help.

I don't think your understanding of the problem is correct.

Please explain to us the SYMPTOMS of the problem. It's quite likely that smashp's solution will work for you. (You can take ownership of files by right-clicking, properties, security, advanced, owner, change owner to.)
