1st-gen Elite 360 died, questions on replacing....

1. If I took it somewhere to get it fixed (some local, shady place), would there be any personal info (credit card numbers, xbox live password info) left on my console if I removed the hard drive?

2. If I get a slim model 360, is there a way to transfer my files from my old HDD to the new one?
