I am just putting together my 1st build and I have the hard drive from my old computer still. The old hard drive has 32 bit windows 7 installed on it and my new hard drive will have the 64 bit version installed on it. If I boot off the new hard drive with the old one plugged in will I be able to transfer from the old hard drive to the new? Or will be there be problems?

I also was thinking about reformating the hard drive after I transfer the data and using it along with the new hard drive, could this cause any problems? How would I reformat the drive to erase everything and get it ready to use?

As always thanks ahead of time for all the help

What is it you want to transfer? If it is the OS, you can't go from 32 to 64 bit. You can copy your data. And, your idea of reformatting the old drive to use as a data drive will work OK, but - why not just RUN a DELTREE on the OS. and access the data as is?
