1st Boot Error

I built a comp for this holiday season and opted to install the OS Win Xp. When i 1st booted it up it immediately started the Win XP installation. After partitioning and formating my HD it proceded to copy the Win XP files. When it was complete it told me to hit enter to reboot, I did so ( i did not remove my win xp cd) and it brought up the installation screen again. Thinking that it was a mistake i went ahead and tried to install it again, but got the message that there was already a OS written on that partition. So i went ahead and quit the setup, removed my Win XP cd and rebooted. It loaded the Intel bios this time around but it gave me the error message : Media Failure, Check Cables.. Any ideas on what i can do to get my comp to boot up in Windows.

im not very familiar with recent intel machines (unless you count the BH6 as recent), but try looking in your BIOS to see if it's forcing the machine to boot from a removable storage drive. Maybe you're forcing the machine to boot from your CD drive, and there's nothing in it. (hence, the media error). Or try checking your hardware IDE configuration
