In times past, kings and other leaders would hide their graft from the public, for fear of a coup or revolution.

In America, the professional politicians rob the taxpayers and their children and grandchildren in plain view, to the sound of thunderous applause.

You're joking right? Kings would build giant shit that serves no purpose just to rub it in the face of others about their greatness.

If you were in position where you can get a shit load of money for yourself (aka Lobbying) and "hook up" some company/or a friend with a cool little contract.....and it's ALL legal, wouldn't YOU do it?

Welcome to the CORE of America's problems.

My resolution is pretty simple.

a) lobbying aka Bribery should be illegal
b) go thru ALL the politicians records/bank statements past 30-40 years. See how lobbying effected their decisions/laws.
c) Find companies that bought contracts/bribed and charge them SHIT LOAD of money (something significant not these pesky fines...)
d) charge them with treason and put them away for good
e) as politicians see what happens to people that do this sort of shit....they won't do it again.

But I'm just a peasant....

I will warn you though. WHOLE lot of people WILL lose jobs and America in general would have to get a good taste of what reality actually is.

NO ONE wants that (trust me on that).

Your resolution is too expensive, I can solve our lobbyist problem for 3c a head.

I could sure as fuck build that for a lot less than $1m ...

sounds to me like some politician's brother owned the construction company.

Yeah it's funny how as soon as something like this is in the public sector it somehow cost's like 10x more than what it should. Someone is definitely making out like a bandit when it comes to public sector construction jobs.

Electronic signs are pretty common at most major stops in my town. Very convenient, though I don't use them much these days since you can get real-time information using an app or web page before you even bother going to the bus stop.

We had a similar problem with the glass at some of our new bus stops not being able to handle the changing temperature. They would get covered in frost at night and when the sun came up they would shatter. Looks nice, but expensive to maintain:

The ones in the OP look a lot like ours at main square:

Pretty sure they don't cost millions, though.
