1gb SD card $9.00 A/R @ Ecost

This looks sweet until I downloaded the rebate pdf - it was a $17 rebate for a 2GB card. Hopefully, I just screwed up clicking through the links. Can anyone validate.

nice find, if the rebates get figured out.

I get the same thing. 😕

I'm a Thinking this is the rebate.

Rebate

They are not so clear about it. I may have to call these guys and find out. Sorry for the confusion, and the wait around. If someone else comes to know of the rebate details please post. Thanks

best getting else for $20-25, better than getting some no name brand. Warranty is important, lets not play with generic garbage...

Thank you OP! Looks like a good deal!

and why are some posters crapping over his thread??? If you aren't personally interested then go to another thread.

fwiw: PCMall is the b&m owner of eCost. PcMall has been in business in the SouthBay area of Los Angeles for over 20 years. They advertise each week in the LA Times on pg3 of the Saturday Sports section. They have a 2d store in the Santa Monica area. Like Fry's, they offer good pricing on advertised items. They have had a web presence since the mid 90's. I have a couple 256mb sd Kingston cards purchased a couple years ago for amir cost of about $6 each.

where else can you find as good a bargain? If you're gonna crap, then suggest an equivalent deal please 😉

thanks again OP, s&h may increase costs

1. because the reseller customer satisfaction rating is 1.33!
2. because their rebate track record isn't too stellar either. Read this thread at FW.
3. because they have the wrong rebate linked to the item.

From the Hot Deals rules:
"When are negative comments allowed?

If there is any other reason to warn others about an offer or link. For example, many sites offering free magazine subscriptions have been known to continue billing credit cards long after the subscription was cancelled. Also, if you know a vendor has a bad reseller rating, you are doing your fellow members a favor by warning them."

I've bought things at ecost, no problems so far, YMMV.

Just to compare, b3st buy has a lower rating of 1.22 and lifetime of 1.95 and I still buy stuff there sometimes.

A bit of a tangent, but I think still relevent to the deal:

What is the current range of speeds for SD cards? What would most consider 'acceptable' for digital cameras?

I have ordered a few times from them with no issues. I have never had a rebate from them though so I can't comment on that. Might want to verify that the rebate is correct before ordering. Otherwise nice deal.

Actually eCost's lifetime rating on resellerratings.com is 4.58. The 1.33 is from the last 6 months of reviews. Maybe it means they are getting worse. Who knows? eCost at resellerratings

People should also look at Bizrate where 75,000 people have rated Bestbuy since 1999. Their overall rating is good according to Bizrate's 4 category ratings. ecost at Bizrate

My thoughts about resellerratings is most people seem to write negative reviews over there. Like nuonce said, Beastbuy has a rating of 1.22 and lifetime of 1.95. Bestbuy ratings at reseller.
Now look at Bizrate's rating of Bestbuy with over 1,000,000 ratings. BestBuy on Bizrate
Their overall rating is good on all 4 categories. I have ordered many times from bestbuy without a hitch, so their below 2 rating seems unreasonable to me. Also look at the overall numbers that people have rated. I would give more weight to 1,000,000 ratings as opposed to 436 ratings.

Now look at Amazon on resellerratings.com Amazon at reseller ratings 6.24 lifetime which means they are below average for a RR store because the average RR store rating is 6.85.
Now look at Bizrate. Amazon's rating was given an outstanding on 2 of 4 categories and
a good rating on the other 2 catergories. Amazon at Bizrate
I've ordered dozens of times from Amazon over the years and I think they are excellent, and I am suprised by their low RR.

My take on RR is to look at it along side of some ratings site like Bizrate and get an overall picture. I certainly wouldn't use RR by itself. Just look at the three examples above.

Now about the rebate involved with this purchase. I can't commment and I do appreciate people who advise about using rebates with certain companies. I take other people's advice into consideration and I too, have advised people with my experiences with centain rebate house and companies.

Don't forget Bizrate runs little contests where certain people supposedly can win money and the sort by doing their review. So people feel if they don't give a great review they won't have a chance, resellerratings doesn't try to cloud someone's judgement.

It is not a conclusion, its a known fact for many of people. Some think they have a better chance at winning a contest if they do or say something well enough. You may do otherwise, but everyone is not like you.

fwiw...the rebate has to be filled out ONLINE and the details are now showing a 1GB card, so the details have been corrected.

comment at FW
YMMV, but my overall experience was okay, and I have some useful stuff (multi-card reader, USB hub, photo paper, etc.) that is all FAR.

Some peeps commenting had problems with some company in Walnut, CA and req'd "nudging" to get FAR stuff. I've had similar problems in the past with rebates via OMax.

This Ultra rebate goes through OnRebates.com in Florida. I'm not familiar with them, but they indicate that they get $ out quickly. This item's offer number is UL-2468 and you enter it by "claiming" your rebate. It didn't come up via their Mfg/Type dropdown rebate search on left side of main page, but came up quickly after clicking the "claim" link and entering the offer number.

I'd like to see how quickly this outfit really is.
