Meritline has a 1GB SD card for $9.99 with free shipping and no rebate. After tax and shipping that $5.99 turns into $15. Tax is always on the PRErebate amount.....

Well then, go to the store and shipping won't be a factor. Some people might need one today, not whenever Meritline can get it to them. Some people prefer to deal with local stores, not mail order. Some people belong to OD rewards program. Some people don't have sales tax. This is for them.

I saw this in the paper also. The $5.99 for 1GB certainly got my attention...until I started reading the fine print. There is a certain point where the size of the rebate compared to what you are buying just doesn't make sense and this is one of them. If it were $10 or perhaps even $15, it might be interesting but $30 rebate for a measly 1GB SD card is over the line for me. When you consider the hassle of making the copies of receipts and UPC, mailing the rebate...and then monitoring the rebate to ensure you receive. Top that off with at least $2 in sales tax for the $30, add-in another $.50 for postage, envelope, copying costs, your expense is now in the $8.50+ range for the 1GB card...factor in the risk that you may not get the rebate and it starts to get real thin in my book.

My take is this is a non-deal...unless you are hooked on rebates. If that's the case, CrapUSA wants a piece of you, too.

I for one would like to keep things positive. Thanks for posting the deal and providing all the necessary details so that I can make my own decision.

My comments were not meant as an attack on the OP, but merely an attempt to put this deal in perspective. No offense intended.

Update
I just checked the deal at Meritline that "Dani" referenced for $9.99 for 1GB 60X card delivered without a rebate. Once you add in gasoline and wear/tear on your car to go to an OD B&M...the Meritline offer is an easy choice unless you need to have it today.

Wait! I think you forgot to factor in the cost of washing the clothing worn into the store and the wear on the leather soles of our shoes as well. Perhaps a portion of the cost of our last haircut and a little of our internet bill so we could know about this. I'm sure you can come up with more "perspective" if you try hard enough. 🙂

You are right. I hadn't even thought about that! Thank you! But how did you know that I run around barefoot and nekkid at home? Are you spying on me? 😉
