1gb PC3200 Ram modules

I ask cause I will have 2 sticks of this in my new duallie CAD workstation and I am finding that most sticks even including ones for 250-350 for 1gb so a total of 500 to 700 dollars on ram are using spec'd at cas 3.....These are all in dual kits so does that have something to do with it??? It is non EC as the mobos I am looking at do not require ECC memory. ONce you get past PC2700 these 1gb modules seem to stop showing cas 2 rating.....

BUmp...
Anyone????

It is a big difference as I can spen 600+ for 2 sticks of 1gb modules or get cheaper still with name brand chipsets for 450's.....They all seem to have same crappy cas 3 timings so what is the deal...

It is probably unlikley I will run anything better then 400ddr exactly or under that...so it doesn't have to pull off higher then rated speeds...

OK so nobod knows around here....

Does anyone have 2 1gb modules running better then cas 3 in a dual channel setup??

Hm, Lets see CL-3 vs CL-2.5? The speed difference is about 5ns. Not really a big difference between the two. If you do not plan on running any faster then Spec I would say CL-3 will do just fine. It is a small speed hit which is make up by the overall speed of the memory. I think it is more of a geek factor when looking at the difference between the two CL classes.
