1GB of RAM from $69.99!!!

info here:
Ultra 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 Memory (2 x 512MB)
Price: $129.99
Less Rebate: - $60.00
Final Price: $69.99*

+ high shipping. It's not a bad deal, but I've never done a rebate from onrebate.com (whoever that is), so i'll skip it. If it's a direct TD rebate, not manufacturer's rebate, forget it.

I'm sorry... I was just browsing TD and saw the offer, I just thought someone here would appreciate it. I guess people around here don't like TD, am I wrong?

no he was referring to the people who couldn't get over a something with td... or heard something and somehow felt like it happened to them and must now hate td. personally i think their onrebate.com system is rather good. i have never not recieved a rebate from it, though some take time. never had to call in for complaints because you did get emailed progress (can't say much since they come in something like 1 month intervals :b).

I could easily fall into that group as i have never bought from TD but from all i've heard i have a bad taste in my mouth, so i just avoid it all together. There was a free case deal at the Atlanta fry's when it first opened and i've yet to get my rebate from them and i don have the info to call them anymore. my fault, but rebates just dont make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. the whole cUSA deal with the FCC was it? was a great move forward though in the whole rebate debate.

I also have not purchased anything from TD, and probably won't from all the rebate horror stories and their very bad record with the BBB.

I have purchased from TD before and never had a problem.

But I tend to avoid rebates nowadays because of Seagate. :frown:

Well I personally went through crap with TD. Nothing to do with a rebate, but it took me 6 months and much work with my credit card company to get money back for something that arrive DOA.

I ordered some computers for work from them years ago. They sent us the wrong SCSI controllers in each of the 3 machines. It took FOREVER and 2 days to get the right ones. Count me as another case of personal exprience against them.

I purchased a 17" Advue WB1701T 17in Silv/Blk LCD Monitor w/Spks in October from Tiger Direct for 279.99. It had two rebates, one(30.00) was from onrebate.com.

The other ($70) rebate was from Advue and took alot longer.

Don't be too quick to judge TD. (I've heard all the stories too)

Can't beat that!!!

IIRC, the bad feelings toward TD started a few years ago when they gave out a "free" phone card (I think) but neglected to inform people that they were signing them up for a monthly service or something.

They were ok to me. I bought a psu from there, and it broke, was'nt hard rmaing it. THen I sent back a proccesor which also broke (maybe because of the psu). I also bought a soyo motherboard, which broke also, did't bother rmaing it because by then I knew soyo sucked big time and I did'nt want another one. But I've ordered some other stuff from them too, and it was'nt bad. But I would'nt recomend them as they are often more expensive. Ultra is a pretty bad brand too, I would'nt get that memory. Another annoying thing about them is they send you their crappy magazine with "deals" i.e. "evga 6800gt agp - only 430!" and that was just last month.

That was part of it, yes. They signed up people for a free phone card (even if they chose "no"), and the way it worked was that TD forwarded your CC info to another company that signed you up for a recurring phone card service that was extremely difficult to cancel. You didn't even know about it until you get another charge or two down the road. TD never made right on it.

Plus they used to do a lot of bait and switch, shipping broken items and refusing returns, fake rebates, sending OEM products in place of retail *and advertising rebates for them that would not be valid*, the list goes on and on.

With Kingmax pc3200 2X512mb dual channel ram on sale for $73 after $12MIR at Newegg, why would anyone take a chance with a TD rebate? 😕

was going to post this deal too, but i guess u beat me.

//krunk (^_^x)

Regarding onrebate.com...I have dealt with them and it was a positive experience.
They gave up to date status on your rebate thru your email...and in my case, they paypal'd my rebate straight to my account. All of this in a very timely manner.
Wish I could get all my rebates thru them.

why is every hot deal thread from TD has to turn into a survey of people's personal experience with TD ? I mean a hot deal thread is supposed to be about the deal, and not mainly about the retailer and its past record. I'm sure any astute buyer always checks out the retailer he's buying from, and most likely he's already familar with TDs record, so there's really no need to turn every TD deal thread into this kind of discussion. So please stick to discussing the deal. btw, having said that, I have never bought anything from TD nor do I plan to do so.
