I was wondering if anyone has used 1&1's Virtual Private Servers (VPS).

It is basically a "dedicated" virtual server that is shared with a few others on a machine. It costs about 30 a month and they say you can get root access (if you use the linux one) or admin access if you use the Windows one.

Here is a link.

Has anyone used these or heard about them? Can I run a CSS or BF2 server on them or is that impossible?

Thanks!

Keep in mind that the RAM they allocate to you is very small. You get 300, 400 or 500MB with their different packages (info from their sales support).

But I'd be interested if anyone actually has any actual experience with it.

Isn't 300MB enough to run one game server with ftp/web services? As long as all three aren't being hit at once?

It depends on the game, but you wont be running a 32 player server.

Ah I see. Does anyone know of any good VPS services taht allow you to host a game server and websites? (Price isn't really an issue - under 50 dollars/month prefered of course).

Price isn't an issue but the one option you came up with 1and1 which is known for being terrible (and cheap)?

You won't find a VPS that will allow you and give you the resources to run anything but the smallest of servers.
