I think the window motor is shot. Good be the fuse but for the last 3-4 years it has been going up and down very, very slowly. I got a quote from the Honda dealer and if it is the motor, I am looking at ~$325. If I get a motor from the junk yard could this be a do oit yourself job?

You think maybe posting in a Honda forum might be more appropriate?

ive had a lot of trouble with the windows on my 93 accord. before you replace the motor, make sure its not the window track getting bound up.

I have no idea why they're quoting you $325. Is that including labor? Same thing happened to my left driver's side window. The part you need is a window regulator. The motor is included. The part alone should cost you $88 direct from honda.

Screw the $75 per hour labor charge. I paid $30 at a glass shop for them to install mine.

i agree. probably want to take a multimeter to it and make sure that the power's getting to the actuator before you run off and buy anything, too. but yes, buy a haynes or chilton manual for your car and go to town. (or go to town and buy the manual, then fix the car)

I'd be willing to bet it's not a power issue. It is a common issue for these window regulator motors to die for aging Accords.

?!? you looked up the non-power regulator which is $87.28 from honda, the power regulator direct from Honda is MSRP $146.48, you should be able to get it for around $100 through parts.com.

Also $30 to install? it's going to be more than an hour, anyone charging less than $30 an hour for labor isn't going to be around long.

However i think you just made a little story up here.

You wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something? If there's one thing I can't stand, it's someone questioning my integrity. Why the fvck would I bother posting a BS story? I've never posted bad information, nor will I ever. It's not my style.

$30 to install, yes. Who says it's going to be more than one hour? It took 25 minutes and this place has been in business for many years and doing quite well.

Yea this guy was real good. I asked him if he wanted me to take a walk while he installed it. He said nahh, so I sat there watching him while he did it.

well whatever, obviously I tweaked you enough to pull your crank window reciept out.

That part number doesn't show up in the Honda catalogue though....

still I am going to bet you have to crank your windows.

You lose that bet. I see you're the type of person that won't graciously admit when you're wrong.

I always thought you were a decent guy alkemyst. What is with you?

Note the part # from my receipt.

ok

Now note the part number from the second item down HERE.
Also note where it says w/ motor

Hey look that that, THE PART NUMBERS MATCH.

Does it sink in now, or do you want a picture of my car door too?

I meant impossible in the sense that this happened on a non-american car.

Either way, the genuine honda regulator/motor does not retail for the $88 you quoted also it's not the front regulator that is a rear.

Then I don't think the 91 is the same as the later 96 either.

Thanks for playing, please breathe into this brown paper bag.

I still don't know what idiot would charge only $30 for what's going to be more than the 25 minutes you said.

Just buy a aftermarket Honda Window regulator from the intarweb and DIY - I just fixed mine last week on my Camry and it only set me back $81. It's not that hard to do.

For the most part the replacement of a regulator will only require removing the inner door panel, the weathershield, and possibly a few rods (some have special clips though so make sure you know know they come off).

Occasionally though some manufacturers use special hardware to attach the door glass to the regulator (saturn is one of these companies).

If you are handy you can often make a tool from another you have (in my case I used a Lisle disc brake cube).

Thing is it would pay to check out a manual before ordering. Autozone has them online free.
