Check your ip address using ipconfig, note down the gateway address and put this into a web browser.

Log into the router (may need to call comcast for info) and it should be pretty simple to secure the network.

PS I always thought you were a guy!
 
🙂 nope, this is really a girl, I don't know when my boyfriend will be able to work on this because he doesn't get off work till midnight. And I would really like to have the wireless hooked up before then.
 
Well my boyfriend is a guy, I am just using his account because he is at work. He is always on the site when I am watching TV.
 
start menu -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig /all -> jot down your mac address from the wireless adapter ->192.168.0.1 -> admin/admin ->mac filter -> put your mac address in -> repair connection -> done.

Ummm, you don't need to hook anything up if it's wireless. Wireless = nothing to hook up. If you have to hook it up, then they lied to you. 🙂

That being said, your best bet is to read the instructions that came with the router and follow them in order. If you get stuck on a step somewhere, or if you run into any errors, look up the error or step you are stuck on in google. Chances are somebody else has had the same problem as you before, and there is probably a lot of information already out there available for your specific hardware. If that should fail, I'd recommend posting a question with specific details including your hardware, exactly what the problem is, and exactly what has been done so far. It is recommended that the post probably should go into "tech support" ... as that is what you are asking for.
 
its a Belkin Wireless 802.11g Router

I don't understand some people telling me that its a wireless so I shouldn't have to set anything up, but I am trying set up the wireless.

comcast hooked up the internet to the dekstop(that I am using) then plugged the router in but he said it was set up but its not, I don't know th name of the network and I don't think its giving out a signal becuase I tried to search for it using my laptop but I don't know the name.
 
I just realized that it still has the name of our old wireless network, and its still secured from the old network but I don't have that network ke anymore...any ideas what I can do?
