Amen to that. I will never buy from TD again after I had to basically file a paypal dispute because the video card I purchased included a free game but the didn't have any. And "refurb/open box" 360 is looking for trouble if you don't have a warranty or know how to fix them....

I don't mind TD anymore, but buying a refurb/open box Xbox probably isn't a great idea. You'll have no idea what chipset it uses until you get it, and if its an older one you may very well wind up with a RROD and no warranty to cover it.

As someone who bit on a TigerDirect cheap/refurbished/returned 360, I will say there is little worse feeling in the world than your out of warranty 360 RRODing.

The six months of warranty are terrible. The 360s are the worst built/designed modern console of all time bar none- the RROD is an eventually if you play it enough. Microsoft as much as admitted it- thats why the regular ones have a three year warranty.

Head my warning as a dude with hundreds of dollars in 360 stuff but no way to use them, get a normal 360 with its 3 year warranty. As someone who ownes(d) all three, the 360 has many cool games to be worth it.

If the console is just open box (not refurbished) and has not been cracked open (seals on casing still intact) then why would it not have the 3 year RROD warranty?

This is a good point. I understand what you are saying. But my understanding is that some people have luck and others do not. I personally just argued the same point w/ an MS rep last week. "Look I bought it from gamestop, but the life of the product has not even reached 3 yrs yet so how does it matter one iota on who owns it?" They allowed me to send it back this week but I'm not sure if they are going to come back and ask me for $100 or something. The other side of the coin is that how do you expect MS to honor every single RROD. People would just pick them up on CL or Ebay in lots and send them back for fixing just to resell....

who gives a crap. then m$ shouldn't have released such a problem child console system to begin with. they should fix everyones console with this problem. its not the consumers fault its microsofts.

Next time m$ you need to design a better system with better cooling.

Quit using 'M$' in an attempt to be clever. We get it, microsoft is a business... and as a business they need to make money. Why are people whine so much about a company doing something they need to do?

To whom are you directing this? I didn't say I cared. I said I understood. Maybe you should spend a little more time being a consumer advocate directing this to MS. Either that or chime in on whether or not this is a good deal.......Or the alternative, is you can continue what you did in your first post; to give us an opinion that takes us off topic and has nothing to do with a "hot deal."
