I know the original title.

I would have made a joke regarding it if it were the case. A four-eyed British boy discovers a family heirloom can make himself and fortune and live a perfectly hedonistic lifestyle before realizing getting shot and having pain is something the elixir does not protect for him.

or
A fanfiction "What if?" book regarding John Lennon, complete with glasses, discovered stone merely days before his attempted murder and ultimately become a long-standing cultural icon and Yoko On becomes the richest woman in the world.

I guess it's a good thing that people did not become inspired "alchemists" thanks to that book. Although, it's terrible shame that it gives credence to the bunk that is witchcraft when it actually is the most British work of Britishness in the modern era.

What comes off as just "day-to-day" mundaneness of a British boy or girl going to school is totally exotic to outsiders. Terms like Prefect come off as fantastically foreign and otherworldly to Americans and other similar peoples who have no sense of the "structures" in British society. It was watching the British version of House of Cards that finished what seeing John Lennon's glasses started. The reporter character mentioned prefects and "Head of House" like mundane stuff.
