thing is if my mb isnt .8v compliant then it wouldnt work which I think is the problem I contacted BFG and they assured me that all there cards are both compliant 1.5v and .8v, therefore thats why I am able to use their cards with no problems...
that being said what would be a good power supple for a 7800GS AGP?

that being said is there an easy to tell which cards do 1.5v? is it just cards that can do 4x agp? or is it alot harder?

if it clearly states that it is AGP 3.0 complaint then it will work with AGP 8x cards...remember your 6800GT is AGP 8x as well...IIRC AGP 8x is only 0.8v and 4x was 1.5v.

More likely it is an issue with that cheap ass PSU you purchased.

I use a lowely Antec SP350 with "only" 15a on the 12v with my P4 setup and it's 7800GS....it never gives any problems.

I am stumped

Wow, then Cooler Master's 600W PSU works fine with X1950PRO AGP ?
It has only 18A on dual rail, interesting.

1 x AGP slot (8x/4x-AGP 3.0 compliant), supports 1.5v display card only.

You motherboard will be fine with all AGP 8x Video cards...but you can check to see if it is compatitible or not....most Gigabyte board will have a small LED near the AGP slot...it will light up if an incompatitible video card is inserted.

my motherboard (GA-K8NS PRO) has the same specs for the AGP slot and it works fine with 0.8v and 1.5v cards

how important is that ... really?
On rage3d, they seem to think it's pretty important. My Sapphire 1950 Pro has that stated at least 3 times in the crap that came with it.

I tried all that to no avail everything that has been stated to try has been tried and it willl not work simply because its .8v and my MB is only 1.5v compliant.

I just installed a BFG 7800GS and it also works flawless started up no problem.

the visiontek 1950 agp is a .8v only card so therefore it is useless to my system.

I think it's pretty much common sense to give any video card with molex connectors, it's own connector straight from the PSU with nothing else attached to the line....

hmm very strange problem....must be a ULI chipset thing...I know my NF3 works fine with both 0.8v and 1.5v, even though gigabyte claims it will only work with 1.5v cards

sure i did that too ...

but when you really think about it ... if your PS is INsufficient ... giving it its own connector won't make any difference ... if it can't handle the load, it won't matter that another device is "in line"

ANYway ... absolutely never again Sapphire

their RMA requires $15 "processing"

i felt so strongly about it i made a new thread :p

*WhatEver* you do *Don't* buy a Sapphire!

i have a new name for it

Sapphire x1950PoS ;)

I just picked up a Sapphire X1950GT PCI-E 256MB card, was planning on hooking it up to a molex chain that is powering my 4 SATA HDs and a couple of fans, is that a bad idea? My PSU is a SuperFlower 520W, 18A or 20A on the 12V rail, rest of system is an A64 4000+ OC'ed, 5 HDs total, not much else in there yet.

yes...you should never daisy chain a video card to other peripherals...that's just asking for trouble

UPDATE....
I now tried a PCI express board EVGA matx and a 1950 pro, I tried that with a 650 watt BFG PSU and I still get no video output,
I am baffled...
I am not sure if this is possible or not but could the wall outlet not be suppling enough power? I have an older house and while the power was upgraded there are still some older outlets in the house that are connected to other outlets, while others are on their own circuit, could this be part of my problem?
