I rushed and I'm one step behind the pledging process but they want to see my transcript

I'm not particularly happy with sharing my 3 years worth of grades with the brothers... I lacked some motivation and was in the wrong major

I meet the minimum gpa of 2.75 or whatever it is but I don't want to show my grades because I'm not really happy with them

lol, and other fraternities aren't social? Personally, screw paying for friends. But, if you want to be with them that badly, give them your transcript, if not, say adios.

The national HQ or university might have minimum requirements for new members. Local chapters might have something in their constitution or bylaws that require a min GPA before accepting a new member. In some cases, awards are given out to the best chapters by both their national HQ and the school Greek Council.

you are an igorant. there are many types of fraternity. for example, those academic ones.

Read the sub heading he put in the topic title. Either way, even if a fraternity is "Academic" or by major it is still a social club. Hence my statement that all fraternities are social. Btw, its "ignorant" not igorant 😉

Wrong, there are non-social fraternities, and you can clearly divide fraternities into a few groups...

- Honor fraternities like HKN and TBP and all those nerdy engineering ones.
- Social fraternities like the ones where people die from pledging.
- Professional fraternities like AKPsi or Delta Sigs or whatever pre-law, pre-biz, pre-med stuff there is that party their asses off like social frats.

I don't know where Alpha Phi Omega falls, but maybe there should be a new category for service...

those are definitely "anti-social" fraternities.

are we talking about 4 or 5 point scale?

join a co-ed alpha phi omega, they'll take anyone.... guranteed lay with chubby, if you're into that kind of stuff....
er, no offense to other alpha phi members....

Who the hell cares? You meet the minimum, and you can always explain the situation. Just give them the grades.

I just feel like since I haven't really bonded well with them during the rush (due to my busy schedule), I haven't held any leadership positions or was involved in any way on campus, my personality is a bit dull, therefore, I don't have much to bring to the table if I don't have the grades either.. I'm hurting.

I do know this though.. I am in the perfect major now and I'm making up for lost time... I feel confident where I'm headed.. but the past haunts me

What's the point of joining this frat? It sounds like your schedule is already pretty booked up. Will this fit into your schedule?

I'm trying to stay busy... I can fit the fraternity into my schedule
I feel like I can make powerful contact and at the same time be part of a eternal brotherhood. I want some lasting memories of college before I graduate because I don't have much. At least with the fraternity, I left some pieces and bits of me

lol, eternal brotherhood. Sorry, thats just funny.

fritolays, are you an idiot? Sorry (i really am), i don't mean to be an asshole but are you really this retarded? of course they have right to ask for it. just like a university has the right to ask for your high school transcripts. do you have to provide them? no. will it hurt your chances of getting in? yes. do you think your university would have admitted you in if you had refused to provide your highschool transcripts? there's no law for universities either stating universities have the right to ask for high school transcripts, but they do. so just think about it.... christ.

What is the purpose of a fraternity anyway?

Normally making contacts and friends. The whole greek system is designed so that most of the student council positions will go to greek members. In other words, the greek system is an excuse to leech tuition dollars from the unviersity so a bunch of guys can live in the same house and throw big parties.
