$193 for a 3 year warranty worth it?

Standard kinda sucks - 90 days phone support, 1 year parts/labor

$193 gets ya 3 years phone and parts/labor...

Seems reasonable, especially considering what local big box stores usually charge...

Absolutely. On laptops, they're definitely worth it. A new screen will run you more than that, as will a lot of other things that may go wrong with it.

On most hardware I don't buy into the warranty, but since it's a laptop, and a mac in general, it's probably worth the price.

That seems like a pretty good deal. Extended warranties aren't worth it on a lot of things, but laptops are definitely things you want them for.

Make sure to check that the extended warranty you're picking up also covers screen repair/replacement. The retailer I work at has a separate screen protection warranty which is separate from the standard parts and labour warranty.

If it does indeed cover screen repair/replacement, definitely.

I sold a Toshiba Tablet to someone on eBay.. the idiot broke the screen two days after the paperwork went through for transfer of ownership.. Toshiba took care of the whole thing under the accidental damage warranty..

x2. A year ago when I bought my laptop, Acer was offering a 2-year extension (3 years total) of the factory warranty for just $130. I jumped on it.

Thought it's not a "total warranty" I.E. me dropping it off the roof is not covered, it does cover and parts that just die, including the screen as well as shipping.

Laptop warranties are a good thing to have.

Use an Amex (and some MC and Visa cards) and double the original warranty for free.

I thought Amex was 1 additional year, not double?

1 year + 1 year = 2 years?

Double FTW?
