1920x1080 laptop display

I suppose the question is moot until we see bluray/HDDVD players for laptops, but are there any such (mainstream) displays or is the current maximum at 1440x900?

My 17" Dell XPS M170 has a 1920x1200 display. And yes, I do watch HDTV captures on the screen.

most 17inches allow for 1900x1200 (pc's tend to be 16:10 instead of 16:9), as an upgrade (wuxga+). Dell has some 15 and 17inches (at least they used to have 15 as by 8600 does it), pretty sure Sony and Toshiba have 17inchers. Sony has latptops with blueray and toshiba has some with hd-dvd, dell also has 1 with blueray (though its an xps so its verry expensive).

Interesting, so is there anything like a high-end Inspiron that has this, or is it still limited to the XPS-type segment?

I have a mobile workstation, an HP NW8240 at home. 15.4" wide with 1920x1020, or is it by 1200, I'm not sure.

Err, this is really old news... Think back to Worldcup 2006 times. As in the Toshiba Qosmio TV ads? That sucker has 1920x1200 17" screen with HD-DVD rom drive and 7600Go to boot. I wish I had waited a little bit and get the C2D version though.

They have 1920x1080 displays, and have had them for a while. Check out Dell's 17" offerings, should be a few.

Even my 15.4" LCD on my I6000D has 1680x1050 res. That's greater than my 1440x900 for my 19" WS LCD 😱

As jkresh mentioned, Dell used to have 1920x1200 (WUXGA) on their Inspiron 8600 line. I'm very disappointed that they don't carry it on their 15" lines anymore. You can get the Inspiron 9400 if you don't mind the size.

You can also get WUXGA on the 15" Latitude and Precision line, if your budget allows for it.

Dell Latitude D820 (15.4" business), Precision M65 (15.4" mobile workstation), and Precision M90 (17" mobile workstation) can be equipped with a WUXGA (1920x1200) screen.

Don't really know why you'd want it though on anything other than 17" or bigger.... WUXGA on 15.4 looks sooo tiny in my opinion

While i enjoy having 19x12 on my 8600 most other people cant read my display (which can sometimes be good, but not much when you are trying to show someone something). I will say its strange having the same resolution on my 15.4inch notebook as on my 24inch desktop screen.

Your XPS 1920x1200, 16:10. TV's are 16:9, hence 1080p is 1900x1080. There are no laptops with a 1920x1080 display, only 1920x1200.

I have an inspiron e1705...it's almost the same thing as an xps except less money. I have 2ghz core duo, 7900gs (which can be HEAVILY overclocked), 2gb ram, 100gb..for $1800 9 months ago
