cpu - good choice. any of the E6X00 models are good. E6300 and E6600 are personally my favorite ones.
mobo - get an asus/abit/msi/gigabyte/dfi/whatever 965x or 975x chipset motherboard. but if you dont overclock, then the intel one will be fine i think.
monitor - i'd suggest using the max native resolution on that monitor, for both windows and gaming. it'll look MUCH better.
ram - looks nice to me.
video card - fine, unless you think you need extra power which then you can get a 7900GT.
case - your pick!
os - cant complain about that...
hd - im getting the 320GB seagate one, so i think you should be fine. mine was only 100 bucks.
speakers - looks fine.
dvd-rw - get the NEC 3550A dvd-rw. only around 30 bucks at newegg. comes in silver, black, and beige!
mouse - up to you.
dvd drive - get another NEC 3550A dvd-rw. very cheap...
keyboard - up to you.

8.5 out of 10...i dislike the dvd options and the mobo choice.

a. are any of them cheaper? and I don't overclock, so I would never pay extra just for the overclocking feature

b. what makes this differnce then the current model (besides the few bucks), I'll gladly switch but only if I have a reason

c. 2 burners, heck I'll rarely use the single
_______

So ya:
for a non-overclocker is this a good motherboard choice
and what makes this burner better over the others, lower ratings is never to inviting

Don't get XP Home - get Pro. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to sell it to you for less than retail.

I like having two burners. As long as they're on different channels, its quite nice to be able to burn 2 disks at once.

'Vista Ready' doesn't really mean anything. Its just a clever way the companies try to get you to buy new PCs. Your build will be more than adequate.

Someone linked me to a site that told the pros and cons of each...
This computer is just for me and my dad.. (games, web browsing, word proccessing... nothing to big) - I feel home is good for us

I wouldn't burn disks anymore with 2 burners as I would with 1 --- as long as both drives can play/read/write (don't know the terms) both CDs and DVDs I'm happy

Thanks for telling be about that Vista crap

Everything looks pretty good, but I would only make one change: Since you're not going to OC at all, knock that RAM down to ValueSelect or some other cheaper RAM and save some money, then use saved money to upgrade your CPU or video card.

good idea..

heres a few - I have no clue which to get though

I would recommend you take a look at separate cases and PSUs. The Sonata is an OK case and the bundled PSU is average (at best), but nothing that I would say is worth the $100 price tag. For example for a bit more will take you a long way in the form of a top quality Lian Li PC-7B and this FSP or Seasonic.

If you are ok with the performance of the 7600GT I would suggest you choose one that is passively cooled for it's 0 noise factor and increased reliability. Having said that you'd still probably be better off with a 7900GT or X1800 series card; DX10 hardware could be a ways away yet.

I would also suggest 2.1 speakers for the sub $100 price range. $50 5.1 speakers are going to sound pretty damn sh!ty.

Value RAM dose make sense but I wouldn't go with any of those. I would suggest you stick with the bigger names such as Crucial, Kingston, Corsair, or Mushkin.

Nobody knows when it will come in, but they have been keeping up with contacts to their distributors for the latest information. They currently have more on order than the pre-orders they have.

I guess for me it doesn't matter because it will be here when it gets here; I'm not going to get it any faster anywhere else unless I want to buy a Smell, Hateway, or something else (shudders and twitches at the mere thought)...

Does anyone at all know anything about the motherboard?

Intel builds some of the best boards out there, which is very good since there are finally good Intel CPUs to go along with them.

The other suggestions are nice... but all of them cost more!

Yeah, they do cost a bit more but they are also quite a bit better. The case is rather subjective, but Antec has been cutting corners on their PSUs for some time now, so it's hard to really recommend them, especially for the price. Besides a good case and PSU will last you a very long time so you can consider it an investment.
