19" vs 21" Monitors

Prices for good quality 19" monitors have become fairly reasonable. I'm considering the Samsung 900NF or the NEC 950+. Both are around $300.00.

Question: How about 21" monitors? The NEC 1250+ is about $650. Does anyone have any experience with this monitor? Is it comparable to the 950+ only bigger? Other than size/weight, are their drawbacks to the 21" monitors?

Finally, what do you think, is it worth $350 more to go to a 21"? I keep monitors for 4-5 years. I've had my Sony 200ES for about 5 years now (it was about $500). It gave me great service.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the 1200NF too.........I have two of them and they are awsesome!:) From what I hear lately though, NEC makes some fine monitors too, I'm just partial to the Samsungs........;)

I don't think that for gaming and general use a 21" is worth it at all. I do think that it's worth it if you are doing spreadsheet work, graphics design or some sort of CAD/3D modeling. You don't benefit from the extra space very much with gaming.

I know a LOT of people whom will argue that point with you endlessly..............;) Personally I don't game all that much anymore, but, still love the 21" monitors for the real estate..................:)

I use 19" monitors now because they fit on my desk. I used to have a 21" Sony Trinitron but it was too big so I sold it.
