Called about 12:30 CST and told the guy I needed a Compaq P900 if they were in stock, as they weren't on the site. He said yup have plenty, $199+$30 shipping to TX (wasn't worried about the $9, wasn't going to bother). Said it'll be here Friday :)

I've had mine for a week. The picture quality looks good, but there are a couple of complaints I have. The display keeps shifting to the right or left periodically. This gets annoying cuz I'm constantly centering the display every couple of hours. I find that putting the refresh rate to 70Hz is the best. If you put it below 70Hz, you get a very small wavy effect. When you put it above 70Hz, the screen seems to look like it is shaking a bit. At 70Hz, if you look really closely at the display, you can see the text shake too. I'm not sure if this is how the monitor works or if it is just mine.

I do believe that it's the same for every P900 there is out there. You don't have to center it yourself when you on the monitor and whatnot. It'll center by itself in a couple of minutes. I'm running at 85Hz refresh rate and everything is perfect. :)

I had mine at 85Hz refresh rate but after I installed the drivers from Compaq so XP recognizes it as the P900, the highest refresh rate I could get was 75Hz. Anybody know why?

Well mine was shipped the 12th so it should be here either wed-through friday.

Synnyster, if you have a geforce card then maybe you need to get the drivers with the refresh fix. Or use an extrenal program like riva tuner to set your refresh rate.

So, this sounds pretty serious, I wouldnt want to deal with that kind of crap all the time, does this monitor suck? These problems sound like serious defects to me.

I just got mine...it seems to be fine. I don't see any wavyness, and I'm running it at 85hz. As far as the shifting to the left and right, i'm not sure, cuz i've had it for only a couple hours. It seems good, fairly sharp picture...I came from a 5 year old viewsonic 17", though it also was a trinitron and pretty good for the time.

well, i had it for a day...

no waviness. i would say a fairly crisp image, better than what i had b4. that waviness he was talking about ... i don't know. maybe you could fix that by changing the refresh rate?

Just remember what this is, a 19" FD Trinitron monitor for around $200. If you need a monitor there's really no question about what the best monitor is at this price range. Then again, if what you've got suits you for now, then don't buy it just cuz it's cheap, wait for the lcd price drop.

A trinitron display is going to be much crisper, cleaner, and brighter, as well as better for gaming, then any current LCD.

My P900 arrived today, was ordered late afternoon two days ago.
I notice no shifting or waviness, looks fine to me. Pretty good contrast and no noticeable focus problems around the edges either. Good deal @ $200.

I called yesterday to place my order and they were out of stock. They did tell me that they are getting 100 in today. I'll call them again today to find out. And yes, they're still $199 :D.

Hopefully a vendor doesn't snag 'em all... :frown:

Can anybody, who has this monitor, let me know if the monitor displays crisp text at 8 font? Also, how good is the image quality at the corners?

I order the p910 diamonmax originally, and then it said that the order had been cancelled, after reading the AT threads I decided to go with the p900 triniton. I called up CDW (which has great tech support) and had them change the order from p910 @ $179.84 +shipping to the p900 @195.62 + shipping = 220.59. So I was kinda bumed on the $15 I lost. The p900 was ordered on Aug/9 and shipped on Aug/12 I I recieved it Aug/15 (Fed ex) I hualed the Monitor up two flights of stairs to get to my room, I set it up and Turned it on. Everything was going good untill i noticed color distortion in the bottom left corner. My green Start button is faded to turquoise. If I move the screen away from that corner then the color is fine. Disappointed; I called Compaq Customer Support (Which is also good tech support) and told the guy my problem, He simple said that he can send a refubished one next day and I send Mine back. The warrenty is very nice to have :) I decided that I will keep this one and let it run for a couple of days and see if it straightens out the color, because I got snow on my old monitor and it did the same thing, but much worse, and after a week it went back to normal. I guess I got a lemon, but the warrenty is reassuring. I will update you if send the monitor back.

I was excited when I first saw this thread, since I just ordered new system components except for a monitor and was going to search for good deals afterwards. I was considering the Samsung 955DF, but discussion of the p910 and p900 seemed great. I was a little worried that the first posts were already a couple weeks ago, but there's time left.

I just called and ordered the p900 (Thanks for people finding and sharing that it's there, even though it's not on the site!), and my sales rep (Jason, ... eh, didn't get an extension #, but direct line is 877-790-1318) told me a couple useful things: They were supposed to receive 100 yesterday (as I knew from previous posts), and they're not in yet; they should be in "any day". Of those, 44 had been ordered.

I hope that 55 more AnandTech readers and I will have good things to report next week!

Got mine this morning. Seems to running great from what I can tell. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I got a question for everyone who ordered a monitor. Did any of you recieve an invoice or something that you could use to show as proof of purchase or ownership if it was ever needed for warranty work?

It is under the shipping label on the outside of the box.

Your warranty is tied to the serial number on the back of your monitor. The clock starts when you ordered it, not when you received it.
My P910 had a little concave "warp" in the lower left quadrant that I waited 3 months to see if it straightend out or if i could get used to it. I asked for a warranty replacement after looking at other Diamontron and true flat monitors. Compaq promptly sent a replacement which was only an S910 (P910's are on back order). I called and sent the S910 back. Still waiting for a replacement P910. Still like the monitor very much, although i was still very partial to my SamSung 950p for a long time.
