I went to office depot today, and well i was looking to get a flat panel, but couldnt pass thisup. They are clearancing the 19" phillips 109S short tube for $139 .

its 1920x1440 @ 60hz max.
1280x1024 max is @86 hz.

they had 2 left at the torrance location when i was there. It was made with light frame technology, and it is realy really sharp, at least its not a POS mag or something.

Im assuming the clearance depends on where you live ... I guess Ill go and check it out ... I heard Phillips just sucks in general ... but at $139 ... I wont mind. :)

Looks like it is.

I've checked on these before come to think of it. The exact model number is 109B20 and they have been on clearance for a very long time (8 months or so). May be hard to find, but hot if you can get it. There is a $20 off $75 coupon for online orders only, but you may be able to get them to take it. $90 for a 19" Flat short-neck sounds good to me :D

its not flat screen, this isnt the 109B this is the 109S which isnt on the website, i guess thats why its on clearance, the flat one was like $300+ there. this one the original price was $279

my dad works in the monitor industry for a different company, and phillips makes monitors for compaq and HP. he says they arent the greatest, but its better than a KDS or a LG any day. he said he coulda got me a refurb'd HP for $135, and well for $4 more for a new one this is a great deal.

Humm, the 109S always came up as the flat screen for me, even when I was looking it up months ago. Thanks for the clarification.

What is the sku u used for the 109S20? The only one at the OD's here are the 109B20 which is definitely a flat screen and definitely not on clearance... current price $279 after $20 rebate.

Hans007:

I think that number is the UPC and not the sku. The sku should still be on the box and is only 6 numbers long (usually XXX-XXX format). Thanks.

Bought a Philips 109s20 last September from OD for $179 after MIR (needed a monitor immediately). It's a decent monitor for the price, but doesn't hold a candle to the KDS Avitron 195TF I had before it or the Planar CT1904N 19" LCD that I have now. Now I'm trying to unload it ($80+shipping ;)). Main advantages are that it's light and has a short depth. The screen is curved, but I've seen worse.

i actually used to have a av195tf, and well... this isnt that bad compared to it. the only real difference i can see is that obviously its not flat, but that helps there not be corner distortion, so i'm not really crying about that.

it seems to have a bit better color uniformity also.

Is the SKU the same as the item number? If so it's 790221 (but listed as discontinued). I bought the monitor last year for around $120 after rebates, no complaints, but then again I've never had a really good monitor, but this is a lot better than a crappy Proview or something. :)

Thanks! Yes the item number and sku ("stock keeping unit") are one and the same.

I bought a Philips Brilliance 109 (19") for $400+ a couple years ago. This company needs to use the rest of the numbers for their model numbers...VERY misleading!!!

I thought LightFrame meant the monitor was lighter. :) But apparently, it's some technology that allows you to selectively brighten certain parts of the screen (instead of one brightness control for the whole monitor).

The Torrance store is the one I got to as well. If I didn't already have a 19", I would've picked up this one.

I'm hoping LCD monitor prices will all of a sudden drop down like it did for hard drive and CD-RW drives in the past year.
