I am looking for a good 19" to 20" gaming LCD and I am stuck between the 2005FP and the L90D+. I really don't mind spending the extra on the 2005FP when it goes on sale and with coupons, but I am worried about games that don't support widescreen. Sure you can edit the .config file to get most games to support widescreen, but what about the games that just don't work with it. Also, some games (CoD) don't allow you to play online with widescreen as it is considering "cheating." Any advice on these or some alternatives?

Indeed. Both the 2001FP and 2005FPW are nice monitors (I own a 2005FPW myself), and I'd never go back to anything smaller/lower resolution.

Yeah but isn't the 2001FP inferior in terms of response times? It has a 16MS response time if I am not mistaken. While not bad, it seems a bit borderline.

Yeah not sure why you would want standard over the wide screen of the 2005FPW. I know it has more real estate but I just got my 2005 FPW and its the Rev AO2 and man is it amazing. I mean as sweet as it gets imo.

And the price is just sweet.

I would perfer widescreen in games that support that, but some games don't allow widescreen online as it is considered cheating or something. Plus I have heard some people having trouble to get the games to support widescreen, while others can be easily modified to support widescreen.

All the games I've ever played work just fine at native resolution....and even if you encounter a game that tries to be touchy about that, you could always run at 1280x1024 or similar...

At 1280x1024 the monitor has black bars at the edges though, correct. This isn't really a big deal, but does it scale well? Edit: I mean the black bars aren't a big deal, how it scales is.

Yeah, the scaling is good. :)

No you dont get any black bars (Unless you choose them of course). You can have it auto fit the resolution to your screen. Does a very good job with it and looks great. This was a initial concern of mine as well, but not at all now that I have the monitor in hand and am very much so enjoying it.

i've had a 20" lcd for a couple years now. be aware that once you go 1600x1200 you will never be able to go back ever.

i think i could go to 1680x1050. but yeah once you go 20" you'll be spending more on monitors forever.

Well looks like I am leaning towards the 2005FP. Anyone experience any ghosting with this monitor in any fast FPS?
