I don't know which one to get. Obviously the p95f is a little bit more expensive. But is it really better than the PF790? How about Samsung 900NF? Please help. I need to buy one as soon as possible (19" CRT).

I'm in the same boat. I've looked at the 95f and the 90. The only difference I can find is that the 95f has 300MHz bandwidth as opposed to the 200MHz of the 90. Supposed to ensure clarity to the corners from what I can tell. I'll be watching your post too since I need the same answers.

Good luck.

How about the Iiyama VM Pro 454? In the UK at least, it's cheaper than the P95F, and it's got an incredible 345 MHz dot clock, allowing 1800x1440 at 85 Hz, or more useably 1600x1200 @ 100 Hz. Unfortunately I've not seen reviews yet, but I have yet to see a bad Iiyama monitor.

have the PS790 for 2-years now, works like a champ.

Viewsonic monitors are awesome.

I just got a PF790 yesterday. I ordered from www.gateway.com. That's the best price I could find. Shipping was FAST! I ordered it Friday morning and got it Monday afternoon. I didn't even get a tracking number. Don't guess I needed one, though.
It's looking pretty damn good so far. Needs some tweaking. I'm running 1280X1024 at 85HZ right now. I hate tweaking monitors, BTW.
Anyway, I like it a lot so far.

THANKS!

It took a while but I finally drilled down to it on the Gateway site. I'm ready to order one NOW but I really wish I could see one in action before I take the plunge, which is not possible where I live. The price is hands down the best I've seen for that monitor. The A90f that I bought last weekend is very nice, and I would be happy with it if the sides of the screen didn't have a slightly dark tint to them. About 1.5 inches from the left and right of both edges I get a little grayish tint that I haven't been able to adjust without pushing the center too hard.

Please let me know if you see anything about the 790 that you don't like. Does it show ANY sign of not being able to fully display edge to edge without the color becoming distorted or fading out?

The Gateway price includes shipping but not tax. Still, it's only a few bucks more than this one cost at a local store.

Thanks again!

Don't forget that there is $50 coupon floating around for gateway.com. I missed out on that one. I can't remember where the coupon is right now. Search the regular coupon sites in the Hot Deals section here on AT.

I haven't seen anything yet to make me not like the monitor. No distortion that I can see so far. I haven't had a whole lot of time to sit in front of it the past couple of days so far. Wish I could better answer your question, though. I'm no expert on monitors or anything, but I like what I see so far.

The deal will be pretty darn good if that gateway coupon will work!!! THE DEAL ENDS TODAY!!!!!!!

Try here: techbargains

The monitor is looking great so far. No complaints.

Thanks. You sold one. I ordered it yesterday but the only rebate I could find was on the A90. They do have a $50 off but the one I saw applies to orders over $399.

Thanks!

Did you decide yet? Jarwa nailed the best deal I had seen so far at Gateway. I found some for less than Gateway, but the S&H shot it back up by $40 to $60 which exceeded the Gateway price.

The PF795 is a bit out of my reach and I am hoping the difference won't be missed.

Good luck

I had this dilemna meself, while I haven't gotten a new monitor yet, I decided I would go w/ the 95f for it's much better refresh rate at 1600x1200 92hz (i don't use much higher than that, even though i like to know i can) while the pf790 pulls 77hz at 1600x1200. I like to try to maintain at least 85hz at that res. So for me, I'll be going w/ the p95f or the sony cpd-g420s, but probably the sony since it's cheaper. And thank god for mwave's dirt cheap monitors and my close proximity for will call. ;)

Received my PF790 today. If there is a difference between this one and the 795 I don't know how I coud see it. This one is about as close to perfect as I can get without spending $500, and I'm picky. When I fired up the A90f last weekend I thought the color was great, and it was very good, but I never got a good feeling for it and knew it would never be my main monitor. Tried my luck with Gateway and the PF790. For the money it's the best deal for me. I can't find anything at all to complain about. Graphics are strong and the text is sharp as a tack.

Good luck with whatever you get.

Glad you like it!! The more I tweak mine the more I like it. The more I sit in front of it; the more I like it! I'm a happy camper so far. I would have really hated it if you didn't like the monitor. Cheers!
