Recently, my 19" monitor has begun to "degauss" on it's own. I have no idea why but I assume it's due to a defective piece somewhere inside as I've ruled out interferance from exterior devices. It only seems to do it after being on for awhile so I guess I'm in the market for a new monitor. Now, I figure I can scrounge up about $300 or so so I'm looking for a quality monitor at an affordable price. I've searched around a bit and found a Hitachi CM715 19" monitor for $271 + shipping. After checking a review site the only negative they seem to have is the price (which seems decent to me for a .22mm dpi monitor).
I was wondering if you all could recommend a few decent monitors or deals that you're aware of? I most likely won't be making the purchase for another week or so but need to research the info now. Do you like Hitachi? Do you have a better recommendation? I currently have a KDS VS-195 and have only have it about 2.5 years, so I'm a bit weary of buying another one of their products. My other PC has a Samsung 900SL which has a "dead" pixel so I'm shying away from that company as well. I know Sony makes great monitors but they are a bit pricey.
Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know why you think the choices are good and why you think mine isn't (if that's the case). Thanks in advance, you all have really helped me in the past and it's saved me alot!
