19" LCD recommendations

OK, Since I had to give up my CRT, I have been missing my dual monitors. I currently have a Hyundai L90D+. The monitor is excellent for games and such. Mainly, I just want another LCD for programming and gaming.

Honestly, I do not care the specs, as long as it is as cheap as possible. The only criteria I ask for are 19" , and 1280x1024 (to match my L90D+). I do not mind buying a refurb from a quality company, bt I have yet to see any. The best deals I have seen are on some acer models (around $220 was the lowest, IIRC).

Thanks for any help!

anyone? If it significantly less, I am alos considering just getting a 17".There son't seem to be too many of either size under $200...

Well, i saw a 17" LCD that cost $200 CAD, it was in a flyer from Staples and the manufacturer's name started with a "M" Had 16ms and i think around 450:1 contrast ratio

Im no expert but i might reccomend looking into....

I'd say check out acer

*al1912b
*al1913w -widescreen/gaming res. would be an issue though

on newegg , they have decent reviews and a three year warranty.

or pay a little more for samsung , viewsonic ...more reliable brand names.

🙂

I just bought the Acer AL1912B this past week when it was on sale at CompUSA. I can't give an honest review because my old laptop's video card can only do 16-bit color at 1280x1024, but it's decent. Definitely not top-of-the-line, but it'll work.

I hope that wasn't Metro.

If so, i think you meant FutureShop, & yup, those LCDs are pure crap...

speaking of crap lcd's...

I personally wouldnt buy any lcd w/o a 3 year warranty, and it would have to be a

major brand w/ many good reviews.

Some sites offer 'good deals' that are disasters. (ie, 1 year warranty or many reviewers

complaing about bad pixels, banding/screen anomolies cropping up and dying units)

g-luck😎

** Anand recommends trying the unit in store.
Also helps if the store has an easy return policy.

Seriously. I need a 19" LCD recommendation too. This is for my parents. I already have a Vp191b. That's clearly very expensive. I also go against a 930B because I've used one for a month side by side with my VP191b before returning it and it was HORRENDOUS. Too bright, colors oversaturated. Bleh bleh bleh. They're looking for something cheaper, but good text quality still.

Are there other overdrive panels like the VP191b because TN panels just suck. Or maybe not even overdrive. I'm sure they don't care that much about response time.
