19" KDS Monitor for about $100

Well, I've seen the Envision deal posted here, and saw the KDS VS190i mentioned, as it has a large rebate currently at OfficeDepot. I've seen both monitors and, while neither is great, I think the KDS is a bit better. I'm looking at it now, and find it better than the Samsung 955df (which is much more expensive) and comperable to the NEC Multisync 95 (also much more expensive.) The monitor is far from perfect, but it seems pretty decent, anyways, and for my Rez System, a $100 19" monitor is just great.

Anyway. Deal details:

Buy the monitor for $259 at OfficeDepot. Use an American Express Blue or (if such a thing exists) some other credit card that offers price matching. Get the $90 in rebate forms. Send off for the rebate. Price is at $169+tax. Step two is to wait a month or so and keep an eye on prices on this model online. I've seen it currently for as little as $187. I'm assuming that, in the next two months while price matching is possible, I'll see a cost for somewhere between $170-$180. Pricematch for the, say, $80 from AmEx. Final cost is about $90+tax.

As far as I know, BM only. A $20 add-on rebate form prints out that you turn in with the $70 one, both to the same place. $90 rebate.

And I was pretty sure AmEx doesn't bring MIR into the equation.

I think Blue puts the MIR into account when PMing.

No, Blue does not look at MIRs, shipping, or tax. That's why items with large MIRs are especially good items for PMs with Blue. . . .

Anyone have this monitor and care to comment on quality? Is it a truly flat screen or not? (I couldn't tell from the description)

yeh, AMEX has no way to even know if you used/had a rebate, all they see is the receipt.

Its really quite good.

Its only two negatives are that it's not flat and rather heavy

don't buy KDS Monitor. KDS Monitor sucks but has a great warranty service. I'm tired and this is my second monitor I got from KDS. They have pay over $400 for shipping by FEDEX for two monitor replacement. BUT who cares, I'm not paying it. I'll call KDS and have them replace my current monitor, it's getting yellow on the right side.

Huh?! Why don't you add "Test your luck! Possible $100 for 19" KDS Monitor! No guarantee though!"

What if the price doesn't drop in next 30 days? What if AMEX Blue changes the policy not to PM anything anymore as AMEX has changed the policy of AMEXOL? This ain't any hot deal at all and too many uncertainties getting involved!

too bad you got a lemon, but most everyone on AT seems to be happy with his AV-195TF, me included. remember not everyone gets a perfect sony either.

As unlikely at that is, if you're worried, simply buy the monitor from OD today and PM it tomorrow using your Blue card to the $181 price on techonweb.com (there could be lower prices--this is what a 5 sec search turned up). The cost would be $260-$90 MIR-$80 Blue = $90 + tax. And you wouldn't have to worry about Blue changing its policy in a month or so (which I really doubt it would do). . . .

for those of you with amex blue's or citibank's click citi, i was wondering about them canceling you. i mean if you pricematch all the stuff you buy on the card, won't they just cancel your account at some point? (i'm asking cause i just got a click citi)?? also where are you finding a 18x price? I can't seem to find that one. Thanks.

I've never heard of that happening or even being a true worry. If they were to cancel someone for using a credit card's features in a legal manner, they would be in a whole lot of trouble. What would be a more likely (albeit still unlikely) scenario is if they eliminate this low price guarantee from the card. However, given how few people actually use the guarantee (even I rarely use it--I just note all the great deals I could get if I had the money) and the fact that they cap the per-item and yearly refunds, I don't think you're going to financially set back Citibank or American Express. So don't be afraid to use it. . . .

also where are you finding a 18x price? I can't seem to find that one. Thanks.

Go to pricegrabber.com and do a search for the monitor. You'll get a lot of nice prices for a PM. I just quoted the lowest one. . . .

You've been ignoring the fact that, right now, the price is $187, lowest, on ibuyer. If it drops no more, it's still around $110 after tax. There's no odds unless prices dramatically rise, I guess. Yes, you need a credit card that has pricematching, but I pointed that out.

As for the quality...it's not great, but I'm extremely pleased for $100. As I said, better than the Samsung 955DF, IMO, and that's much more expensive.

hate to be a pest :) but is the only way to get that additional $20 rebate by purchasing in the store? my card (click citi) can only be used online. also, my local store was selling it for 269.99 after instant rebate... thats not this 20 is it?

thanks a lot.

Quick, somewhat Off Topic, but related question:

KDS - bad news stay away? hit and miss quality control?

I was looking at the Envision too ("$90" at Staples this week).

Saw a 15" KDS Radius Rad-5 LCD at Wal-Mart for $228.
Seemed the ordinary, regular price, nothing special.

I have never heard / seen such a low price for LCD.

Junk? Forget about it as a possible alternative?

kds has got that great RMA program, they'll ship off a new monitor to you...
KARES Saves Time

The KARES program dramatically reduces the user's system downtime by providing a replacement unit in days, not weeks. KARES service is offered free of charge (except for call-tag pickup service, if required) to owners of any Visual Sensations, Avitron, Radius displays. Models covered by the program include

but the picture quality is lackluster...
