19 inch monitor recommondations

What type of budget are you on? I ask because there is some 19in monitors around $500 and then there is some around $300 so please specify your price range and I bet a lot of people can help you.

Well, the lower the cost the better. I mean, cost is definently a factor but I could spend $500 if it was really worth it. Also, I am not concerned with speakers on the monitor. Thanks.

I'd say go with the KDS 19" FV Avitron. Its has the same picture tube as the Sony Trinitron, but costs quite a bit less.

Not again!

The KDS AV195TF is a good monitor (uses a Trinitron screen).
The Samsung 900NF is also a good monitor.
Both of these are quite good buys for their costs.

The Sony CPD-E400 and CPD-G400 are great monitors, but they are a little pricey. The difference between them is that the G400 supports a higher refresh (and possibly resolution).

The best professional 19" monitor from a price/performance standpoint is the Samsung Syncmaster 900NF. I would stay away from the Sony E series, if you must have a Sony get the G series instead - though I feel that Sony is WAY overpriced.

Here's how I would rate 19" monitors based solely on features/price:
1) Samsung 900NF - BNC inputs, great refresh rates, and a great price.
2) Viewsonic PF795 - Might be slightly better than the Samsung, but costs a good bit more.
3) Sony G400 - Good refresh rates, but no BNC inputs. Way overpriced.
4) KDS AV-195TF - Older Sony tube, and no BNC inputs, but extremely competative price wise.
5) Viewsonic PF790 - Good monitor, just not as good as the others on the list.

If you plan on running your monitor at high resolutions I would recommend getting either the 900NF or the PF795 - the BNC inputs help out a bunch. As always, make sure to take a test view of the monitor(s) you are going to buy.

uh how does the kds use an older tube? You are very misinformed. It used the same fd trinitron tube that the g400 uses.

Whoops!

Yup, they both use FD Trinitron tubes. Sorry for spreading misinformation. In light of this information I would rate the KDS above the Sony, but still under the Samsung and PF795.

I ordered a 19in monitor recently (haven't got it yet, still on backorder) and it was between a Hitachi Superscan 715 and a Samsung 900IFT. I decided on the 900IFT. So, I would say the 900IFT or the 900NF (Trinitron tube, little better, little more expensive). Oh, and check out Onvia.com. They have great prices and free shipping and I know a lot of people (including me) order monitors from there. If you order quick, there is a $30 rebate from Samsung that ends July 31st. Also, look for $25 coupons at http://www.techbargains.com for Onvia. AND... sign up at http://www.pointclick.com to get 10% back for your order. For some more recommendations, just use the 'search' tool and search for other 19in monitor threads because there is a lot!

If money is no object, Ill go with this order, though my list does include cost effective solutions:

Prices listed as before discount and coupon
1. Sony G400 ~$560
2. Mitsubishi DiamondPro 900u ~$560
3. Mitsubishi DiamondPlus 91 ~$460
4. Samsung SyncMaster 900IFT ~$420(my best shadow mask pick)
5. Hitachi SuperScan 776 ~$460(shadow mask)
6. Samsung SyncMaster 900NF ~$420(DiamondTron NF, cost effective)
7. KDS AV-195FT ~$400(FD Trinitron, cost effective)

Onvia is showing out of stock on the 900NF. A call to Customer Service confirms this. Is the great deal on this monitor lost or is there another place to get such a good deal as you can get combining pointclick, rebate, and coupon?

the g400 is much more then 500 dollars. you should go with the e400. i bought a view sonic, but then it wasnt up to par with me. so i returned it and bought a sony monitor. its very good. i love it.

I saw the Viewsonic PF795 over at onvia for just under $500, with free shipping...

The Samsung for $440 over there with free shipping too...

iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 is a great monitor, but since I own it you guys can consider that I am a little biased...

But truthfully, if you look at iiyama's specs, they usually have the highest bandwidth/dot clock around for greater resolution and refresh rate. Yes, I know you should never go by the paper to judge the performance of a monitor, but the high resolution and refresh rate offered by iiyama are hard to beat.

Samsung SyncMaster 900NF $340 after discount, coupon and Samsung rebate.
Mitsubishi DiamondPlus 91 $390 after discount and coupon

If you got more money I recommend you to go with Sony G400.
